Remote Wealth Management Internship information

What are some common challenges faced by interns in a remote wealth management internship, and how can they overcome them?

Remote wealth management interns often face challenges related to communication, collaboration, and learning without in-person interaction. It can be harder to ask spontaneous questions or receive immediate feedback, and building relationships with mentors may require extra effort. To overcome these challenges, interns should proactively schedule regular check-ins, participate actively in virtual meetings, and utilize digital collaboration tools. Staying organized and being proactive about seeking guidance will help interns maximize their learning and connect more effectively with team members.

What is a remote wealth management internship?

A Remote Wealth Management Internship is a temporary, entry-level position where interns work virtually with financial advisors and wealth management firms. Interns typically assist with tasks such as conducting market research, preparing client reports, analyzing investment portfolios, and learning about financial planning strategies. The remote format allows interns to gain valuable experience in the finance industry without needing to be physically present at the firm's office. This type of internship is ideal for students or recent graduates interested in finance, investments, or client advisory roles. Participants develop relevant skills and build their professional network while working from any location.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote wealth management intern?

To thrive as a Remote Wealth Management Intern, you need a strong understanding of finance, investment principles, and analytical skills, often supported by coursework in finance or economics. Familiarity with financial modeling tools, portfolio management software, and proficiency in spreadsheets like Microsoft Excel are typically required. Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently make candidates stand out in this remote role. These skills are crucial for effectively supporting advisors, analyzing client portfolios, and ensuring smooth virtual collaboration.

Job description

Company Description

Farther is a rapidly growing RIA that combines expert advisors with cutting-edge technology - delivering a comprehensive, tailored wealth management experience.

Farther's founders are leaders and innovators from the private wealth industry who possess a unique blend of traditional wealth management, fintech, and technology production expertise. We're backed by top-tier venture capital firms, fintech investors, and industry leaders.

Joining Farther means joining a collaborative team of entrepreneurs who are passionate about helping their clients and our teammates achieve more. If you're the type who breaks through walls to get things done the right way, we want to build the future of wealth management with you.

The Role

Farther's Advisor network is scaling fast, and this role sits at the center of it. As our Senior Talent Partner focused on the wealth advisor practice, you'll recruit across our advisor ecosystem: Associate Advisors, Advisor Support Staff, and proactive roles supporting the RIA. You'll work directly with Advisor Principals & Team Leads to understand their business, translate hiring needs into search strategies, and close the kind of hires that move the needle on AUM and team growth.

Your Impact

  • Full-cycle recruiting for Advisor practice roles, including Associate Advisors, RIA non-Advisor Staff, and Relationship Managers
  • Partner directly with Advisor Team Leads to conduct intakes, build search strategies, and set realistic hiring timelines
  • Source proactively into the wealth management talent market: broker networks, RIA pipelines, custodian alumni, and direct outreach
  • Navigate Advisor compensation structures, including payout grids, transition packages, and book-of-business considerations, with fluency
  • Build and manage a warm pipeline of Advisor-track talent across markets, including New York, Dallas, and remote across the US
  • Manage full candidate experience from first outreach through offer close — including competitive offer strategy and counter negotiations
  • Partner with Senior Talent Leaders on headcount planning, market intelligence, and Advisor growth initiatives
  • Maintain clean CRM & Greenhouse data and keep all stakeholders informed at every stage

The Ideal Match

  • 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience with at least 3 years focused on wealth management, financial advisory, or financial services talent
  • Experience with complex compensation structures, you can talk about payout grids, transition bonuses, and book-of-business deals
  • Proven track record sourcing and closing advisor-track talent (wirehouse, RIA, or independent channels)
  • Confident running stakeholder conversations with senior Advisors and practice leads without needing hand-holding
  • Strong instincts on candidate quality, you're not throwing volume at a role, you're finding the right person
  • Experience using an ATS (Greenhouse preferred) and modern sourcing tools

Bonus Points

  • Background recruiting at an RIA, wealth management firm, or financial services search firm
  • Existing network in the wirehouse-to-independent advisor transition market
  • Experience recruiting in New York, Texas, and Remote markets
  • Familiarity with advisor team growth dynamics, you understand what it means to build out a practice

Why Join Us

  • Competitive comp package that rewards impact
  • Work alongside some of the brightest minds in fintech
  • Ground-floor opportunity at a fast-scaling startup
  • Chart your own growth path as we expand
  • Full health benefits + 401(k) matching & Roth IRA options
  • Unlimited PTO
