What is a remote voice over?

A Remote Voice Over job involves recording voice narration, character dialogue, or other audio content from a home studio or remote location. Voice actors lend their voices for projects such as commercials, audiobooks, video games, e-learning courses, and more. Instead of working in a professional studio, they use their own recording equipment and often collaborate with clients online. This type of work requires a good microphone, soundproofing, and audio editing skills. Remote voice actors typically receive scripts, record their lines, and submit finished audio files digitally.

What does a remote voice over do?

A typical workday for a Remote Voice Over artist often includes reviewing scripts, recording audio from a home studio, editing files, and communicating with clients or project managers for feedback and revisions. Many voice over artists juggle multiple projects at a time, requiring strong time management and organization skills. Remote voice over work also involves frequent collaboration with producers or creative teams to ensure the desired tone and delivery are achieved. While the work is flexible and can be scheduled independently, meeting client deadlines and maintaining consistent audio quality are key to long-term success in this role.

What skills and qualifications are needed for a remote voice over?

To thrive as a Remote Voice Over, you need strong vocal talent, script interpretation skills, and clear diction, often supported by a portfolio or demo reel. Familiarity with audio recording software (like Audacity or Adobe Audition), quality microphones, and home studio equipment is essential; some roles may also seek industry certifications or union affiliation. Reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to take direction and adapt quickly are standout soft skills in this field. These competencies ensure that voice overs are delivered with professionalism, meet client expectations, and result in high-quality audio that is ready for production use.

Can you do voice over with no experience?

Remote voice over work is accessible to beginners, as many clients seek natural talent and clear speech rather than formal experience. Building a demo reel, practicing voice techniques, and learning audio editing tools can help start a career in voice over without prior experience.

How do I start remote voice over work from home?

To start remote voice over work, create a professional demo reel showcasing your voice talents and set up a quiet, sound-treated recording space. Register on online freelance platforms, build a portfolio, and apply for voice over jobs that match your skills and equipment capabilities.

How do you get hired for remote voice overs?

To get hired for remote voice over work, build a professional demo reel showcasing your vocal skills, create profiles on freelance platforms like Voices.com or Upwork, and apply to relevant job postings. Job description

Overview

We're hiring a Director, Marketing Strategy to own marketing strategy across some of our most important client relationships. This is the seat where the thinking happens.

You'll build the roadmaps, lead the strategic conversations, and make the calls that shape how our clients grow. You'll be the source of the strategy, not a contributor to someone else's. You'll partner closely with our VP of Growth and VP of Operations, and operate with the autonomy of a senior voice that the team and our clients lean on.

Anchour has grown fast, and the work has gotten more sophisticated. We're investing in senior strategic firepower because the work demands it, and our clients are ready for it.

This is a hybrid role based out of our Maine headquarters, with flexibility for remote work. Maine-based applicants are preferred. You'll report to our VP of Growth.

About Anchour

Anchour is a creative agency of 40+ people focused on building unforgettable brands and digital experiences that help businesses punch above their weight.

Headquartered in Maine, we partner with SMBs and growing brands across industries like consumer goods, hospitality, financial services, home services, and retail. Our work spans brand strategy, identity design, website design and development, content strategy, and full-service marketing.

Great work happens when smart people are trusted to do it. We've built a place where senior talent has real ownership, real influence over direction, and the room to do the best work of their careers.

What You'll Do

You'll own marketing strategy for a portfolio of important client relationships and serve as the strategic anchor across creative, media, and account teams. The work breaks down into a few areas.

  • Own Strategy on Key Accounts - Lead marketing strategy across a portfolio of important client relationships. Build the annual and quarterly roadmaps that shape how we deploy creative, media, content, and CRO. Make independent strategic calls and stand behind them.
  • Build the Roadmaps - Translate client business goals into clear, prioritized, executable marketing roadmaps. Define the levers, the sequencing, the channels, and what success actually looks like. Build plans the team can run with and clients can rally around.
  • Be the Senior Strategic Voice - Sit across from CMOs, founders, and growth leaders as the senior strategic voice on assigned accounts. Run the planning conversations, lead the QBRs, push back when needed, and earn the room.
  • Drive Discovery and Kickoffs - Lead strategic discovery to set every engagement up for success. Audit existing performance, find the actual growth levers, and translate them into a plan the team can execute.
  • Inform Creative and Media - Brief and partner closely with creative, media, and content teams. Your thinking should shape what gets made, what gets tested, and where dollars get spent. You stay in the work through execution.
  • Build the Practice - Help define how marketing strategy operates at Anchour. Develop the frameworks, processes, and standards that elevate strategic thinking across the agency. Over time, build and mentor a strategy bench underneath you.
  • Push the Work Forward - Bring fresh perspectives on what's working, what's changing, and how AI is reshaping how marketers operate. Push the team to test, iterate, and stay ahead of where the industry is going
What We'd Like To See
  • Agency Experience: 7+ years of marketing strategy experience, with at least 3 years at an agency. We need someone who has been senior in this work, not someone growing into it.
  • Multi-Channel Fluency: Real experience building strategies that span paid media, content, SEO, email and CRM, brand, and CRO. Fluent in performance and brand thinking, and how the two reinforce each other.
  • Multi-Industry Range: You've worked across verticals and adapted your thinking to the realities of different businesses. Experience in DTC, CPG, or financial services is a strong plus.
  • Senior Client Presence: You've sat across from CMOs and founders and held the strategic line. You manage tough conversations, navigate complex feedback, and earn trust at the most senior levels.
  • Roadmap Builder: You've built marketing roadmaps from scratch. You know how to take ambiguous business goals and turn them into clear, prioritized, executable plans.
  • Strategic Conviction: You form sharp opinions backed by evidence. You push back when something isn't right. You make recommendations that clients can actually act on.
  • Data-Literate: You read performance data, work alongside analytics, and use numbers to sharpen strategy. You know what the dashboards are telling you.
  • AI-Integrated Workflow: You're using AI tools to research faster, draft sharper, and think bigger. You can speak to how it's improved your work.
  • Player-Coach Orientation: You're hands-on with the work, and you raise the bar for everyone around you.
  • Self-Directed: You see the work and move it. You don't need to be told what to prioritize.
  • New England-Based: This is a hybrid role with regular in-office days and occasional in-person client collaboration. Maine-based applicants are preferred.
Work Style
  • You build strategy that gets used. Your work shows up in how the team operates and how clients grow.
  • You take ownership of accounts end-to-end. If a client is yours, you know what's happening across every channel and what needs to happen next.
  • You're the senior voice in the room. You bring perspective, push when something is off, and offer a clear direction.
  • You communicate before you're asked. If a strategy isn't landing or a client relationship is shifting, your team and your clients hear it from you first.
  • You partner across creative, media, and account. You make the work better by being in it.
  • You're curious and current. You're reading, testing, listening, and constantly sharpening how you think about modern marketing.
  • You take the work seriously. Not yourself.
What You'll Get
  • Competitive Salary & Profit Sharing: Share in our success as we grow.
  • Hybrid Work Flexibility. Office-based in Maine with a weekly in-office day and flexibility for remote work.
  • Retirement. Savings plan with a 4% company match.
  • Premium Insurance. Premium health, dental, vision, and life insurance with generous coverage for our US-based team members.
  • Optional HSA. An optional health savings account (HSA) for employees to set aside money on a pre-tax basis for medical expenses.
  • Home Office Setup. Get a laptop + 50% reimbursement for home office equipment.
  • Paid & Flexible Holidays. 12 paid holidays throughout the year, including three flexible holidays.
  • Paid Time Off. Minimum three weeks of paid time off per year.
  • Paid Leaves. Paid parental, medical, bereavement, and other types of leave.
  • Flexible & Summer Fridays. Half-day Fridays throughout the summer, and a get-it-done-and-go mindset year-round.
  • Lifelong Learners Fund. Cash for professional development (books, conferences, courses), and team bonding fun times.
  • Baby Bonding Bucks. $500 bonus to cover diapers, meals, or other baby-related expenses for any employee welcoming a new child.
Employment Type: FULL_TIME
