Job Description

The Technical Sales Representative for ANI / RVI products is responsible for developing and executing a sales strategy for a defined territory implementing the sales plan promoting and demonstrating the company's products and services with the goal of attaining a sales target. The Technical Sales Representative will be responsible for knowing the technical features of all the products within their product line and be able to effectively demonstrate the products to the customer. In addition to technical knowledge, the Technical Sales Representative will also be responsible for knowing how to perform and manage the selling process of a technical selling cycle. Since this is an outside sales position, the Technical Sales Representative will be expected to travel about 50% of the time to meet customers, for the purpose of product demonstrations and selling product.

  • Visit customers to demonstrate product and discuss sales opportunities daily in the assigned territory.
  • Follow up on all leads provided
  • Prospecting and cold calling to identify new business opportunities.
  • Complete timely quotations to customers working through the sales engineers and support staff.
  • Work closely with others at Wabtec to coordinate the overall selling efforts of the company.
  • Complete work reviewing and improving a Sales Plan that includes an action plan for increasing sales to active customers and prospective customers, scheduling full coverage of the territory, maintaining a high level of in-field time and continually improving product presentation skills and knowledge.
  • Respond to all customer phone calls and emails in a timely manner.
  • Use the EVIDENT CRM package for completing daily tasks and management reporting.
  • Timely completion of all periodic sales reports, calendar events, and opportunity management.
  • Coordinate sales to key accounts within their territory and with the key account managers.
  • Participation and presentation in local professional organizations.
  • Operate within the Wabtec Code of Ethics policy.
  • Learn and implement the Miller Heiman strategic selling methodology.
  • Attend various sales meetings

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline or equivalent sales experience required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1+ year experience in high end capital equipment sales or similar selling skills and training desired.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong computer skills (i.e., Word Excel PowerPoint).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to learn the scientific principles and technology of the equipment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Sales territory management abilities a plus.
  • Self-directed highly motivated strategic thinker.

Approximately 50% travel within a given territory.

Compensation for this role will be commensurate with experience. The total expected compensation range is $120,000 to $210,000, which includes base salary (or annualized hourly compensation) and commission incentives. Commission is uncapped, offering unlimited earning potential

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
