Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Fully remote position with the Virtual Hospital Medicine team supporting Atrium Health King's Mountain in King's Mountain, North Carolina. Schedule consists of 7 on / 7 off overnight shifts, including rotating weekends and holidays. Responsibilities include virtual admissions, overnight cross-coverage, and ongoing clinical management for adult hospitalized patients utilizing Advocate Health's virtual care platform and Epic electronic medical record.

The Carolinas Hospitalist Group is looking for an APP to join the Virtual Hospital Medicine Nocturnist team supporting Atrium Health King's Mountain in King's Mountain, North Carolina.
Position Details
Overnight work schedule: 7 on / 7 off
Rotating weekends and holidays
100% inpatient adult medicine
Fully remote Virtual Hospital Medicine position
Perform virtual admissions, overnight cross-coverage, and ongoing inpatient clinical management
Supports Atrium Health King's Mountain through Advocate Health's Virtual Care Program
Collaborative practice with Hospital Medicine physicians, bedside APPs, nursing, and interdisciplinary care teams
Epic electronic medical record
Experience Required
Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
Nurse Practitioners must hold a Master's Degree or Doctorate in Nursing Practice with ACNP or AGACNP board certification
Physician Assistants must hold certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Current license to practice as an NP or PA in North Carolina
Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license
BLS for Healthcare Provider (AHA) must be valid at least 90 days beyond start date
Hospital Medicine, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, or other acute inpatient experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with appropriate critical thinking and interpersonal skills
Ability to perform thorough history and physical assessments
Ability to function within a multidisciplinary team
Job Summary
Specialty Care APPs provide concentrated services on a single system, caring for both acute and chronically ill patients. This includes hospitalized patient care delivered through Advocate Health's Virtual Hospital Medicine program. Schedule consists of overnight shifts for 90% or more of the time.
Essential Functions
Performs initial and periodic medical histories, physical examinations, and daily assessments.
Performs comprehensive virtual admission history and physical examinations for adult hospitalized patients.
Provides overnight virtual admissions, cross-coverage, and ongoing clinical management.
Records findings of examinations, assessments, and plans of care.
Writes appropriate prescriptions and administers medications.
Orders and interprets daily laboratory and radiology examinations.
Determines treatment plans for patients in collaboration with supervising physicians.
Documents all patient encounters, records observations, interventions, and activities in a medically appropriate manner within the patient's medical record.
Collaborates with Hospital Medicine physicians, bedside APPs, nursing staff, consultants, pharmacy, rehabilitation services, case management, and ancillary departments to coordinate patient care.
Responds appropriately to changes in patient condition and communicates recommendations to bedside care teams.
Acts as a patient advocate for the population served.
Attends, participates in, and contributes to group/practice meetings and policy development as requested.
Performs additional duties within the scope of licensure and credentialing.
Physical Requirements
Frequent sitting, speaking, hearing, computer use, and repetitive hand movements.
Must possess intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, touch, and finger dexterity.
Must speak English fluently and in understandable terms.
Must be able to react and perform effectively in stressful situations.
Schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays, and additional coverage as operationally needed.
