Pay: $30 - $35 / Hour (Contract with potential for permanent hire)

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Anesthesia Medical Coder to join a high-performing coding team. This role is responsible for accurately coding anesthesia cases, ensuring compliance with anesthesia billing guidelines, and maintaining high productivity and quality standards. The ideal candidate has extensive anesthesia coding experience, strong knowledge of anesthesia documentation, and can quickly adapt to client-specific billing requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and accurately assign anesthesia CPT and diagnosis codes.
  • Code anesthesia cases for general surgery, pain management, and other anesthesia specialties.
  • Interpret anesthesia documentation to determine:
    • Medical direction
    • Medical supervision
    • Appropriate anesthesia billing rules
    • Anesthesia crosswalks and flat-rate coding
  • Apply Tennessee anesthesia billing guidelines (or quickly learn client-specific requirements).
  • Meet established productivity and accuracy expectations.
  • Maintain coding quality while working independently in a fast-paced remote environment.
  • Collaborate with coding leadership and team members to ensure accurate reimbursement and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of recent anesthesia coding experience required.
  • CPC certification required; CANPC strongly preferred.
  • AAPC or AHIMA certification accepted.
  • Strong understanding of anesthesia documentation, crosswalks, and billing guidelines.
  • Experience with Tennessee billing guidelines preferred.
  • Experience using Imagine or PhyGen billing systems is highly preferred.
  • Experience working within Epic environments preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.

Additional Details:

  • Employment Type: Contract (4–6 months minimum) with strong potential for permanent hire.
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday between 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM EST (8.5-hour shift with a 30-minute lunch).
  • Work Environment: Fully Remote.

    • Epic (client systems)
    • AAPC Codify
    • Codify Anesthesia Crosswalk
    • Productivity Expectations: Ramp up to approximately 65 charts per day by Day 30.
    • Goal of 80 charts per day after onboarding.
    • Accuracy expectation of 94–98%.
    • Training: IT onboarding during the first half of Day 1.
    • Dedicated manager-led training during the first week.
    • Team introductions and customized role-specific training.
    • 100% quality review until productivity and accuracy standards are met.
  • Equipment: Client-provided equipment (approximately 14 days for delivery and access setup).
  • Target Start Date: ASAP (within approximately two weeks).
    • Interview Process:Virtual interview with the Coding Manager and Coding Director.

CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, LA, MA, MN, MO, MS, NJ, NY, NC, PA, TN, TX, and WV.

Additional states currently being considered: AL, KY, MD, MI, NM, and WA.
