Data is the backbone of the mission. We are seeking a Senior SQL Database Administrator who specializes in the high-stakes intersection of Relational Database Engineering and the Appian Low-Code Platform. This is not a "maintenance" role; it is a design-heavy position where you will collaborate with developers to ensure that rapid application delivery never comes at the cost of data integrity or system performance. You will be the "Architect of Truth" for our application layer, engineering the foundation that allows mission-critical government systems to scale under pressure.

Location: Remote (Must reside within 200 miles of the work site)

Qualifications & Requirements (MUST HAVES)

  • Citizenship: Due to the Nature of our work, must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Certification: CompTIA Security+ is REQUIRED (DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II).
  • APPIAN Certification: Appian Developer (Level I)
  • The 8/5/3 Standard: 8+ years in RDBMS engineering and administration; 5+ years specifically administeringMySQL or MariaDB environments; 3 years of hands-on experience in Appian environments.
  • Education: Bachelors in Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or 15+ years of relevant mastery in lieu of a degree.
  • Clearance: Must be eligible for the required government background check.

The Mission (Core Responsibilities)

  • Architectural Stewardship: Build and modify database structures that align with complex government workflows and business requirements.
  • The Appian Bridge: Manage the critical mapping between Appian objects and RDBMS tables, including the management of Data Stores and Record Type synchronization.
  • Performance as a Priority: Proactively monitor system health, manage records, and aggressively tune queries to ensure the UI remains responsive under heavy loads.
  • Collaborative Engineering: Work as a technical peer with developers and customers to gather requirements and implement high-efficiency data-driven solutions.

Key Competencies

  • Mastery of RDBMS: Expert-level schema design, database constraints, and the use of Stored Procedures and Views.
  • SQL Excellence: Advanced skill in writing SQL queries for extraction, manipulation, and high-intensity data management.
  • Appian Data Logic: Deep understanding of how Appian Data Stores interact with the relational layer and how to troubleshoot sync errors.
  • Integration & Security: Experience in Web API Development and ensuring Encryption at Rest/Motion to meet federal standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience within DoD or federal agency environments.
  • Familiarity with government cybersecurity frameworks and cloud-hosted (SaaS) databases.
  • Appian Certifications (Associate, Senior, or Lead Developer).
  • Strong understanding of business logic and automated workflows.
