Position Summary

The Game Production Supervisor, Local Media, is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the planning and execution of live NBA game broadcasts and related programming across assigned Local Media productions. Reporting to the Game Production Lead, this role translates overall production strategy and editorial direction into consistent, high-quality game broadcasts, providing day-to-day production leadership from pre-production through live event execution and post-production review.

Working closely with internal production teams, team and local broadcast partners, Studio Teams, Event Teams, Production Technology, Broadcast Engineering & Operations, Graphics, Programming, Distribution, Content Planning, and third-party vendors, the Game Production Supervisor ensures assigned productions meet established creative, editorial, technical, operational, and financial expectations.

This role serves as a leader for assigned games and markets, with primary responsibility for editorial execution, production quality, budget and schedule oversight, and effective coordination among internal and external partners, while escalating broader strategic, stakeholder, or resource decisions to the Game Production Lead as appropriate.

Major Responsibilities

  • Execute production strategy and editorial priorities established by the Game Production Lead and Local Media leadership, translating direction into actionable game plans, rundowns, schedules, staffing needs, and production workflows.
  • Provide editorial leadership for assigned productions, coordinating storylines, content priorities, talent needs, graphics, replay, sponsored elements, and other game presentation components with internal and external production teams.
  • Lead day-to-day communication with studio teams and other production partners regarding content and talent availability, daily schedules, production requirements, and special requests.
  • Manage production quality, schedules, and budget performance for assigned remote and centralized productions; identify variances, risks, and resource needs and escalate material issues to the Game Production Lead.
  • Coordinate with Programming, Content Planning, Advertising/Sales, Graphics, Production Operations, Distribution, and Broadcast Engineering & Operations to ensure production deliverables, integrations, and technical requirements are aligned and executed accurately.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with team production staff, local broadcast partners, freelance personnel, production vendors, and other third-party partners supporting assigned broadcasts.
  • Liaise with contracted and third-party vendors as needed, including coordination of services, deliverables, production expectations, and issue resolution within approved plans and budgets.
  • Lead pre-production meetings, production rehearsals, game-day coordination, post-game reviews, and operational debriefs for assigned productions to drive continuous improvement and consistency.
  • Identify opportunities to improve production workflows, editorial execution, operational efficiency, and broadcast quality across Local Media productions, and partner with the Game Production Lead on longer-term enhancements.
  • Advance in-game storytelling and broadcast presentation through effective use of production tools, emerging technology, alternate production approaches, and new workflows consistent with Local Media strategy.
  • Mentor and provide day-to-day guidance to producers and production personnel supporting assigned broadcasts, fostering collaboration, accountability, strong editorial judgment, and consistent execution.

Required Education/Professional Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Broadcast Journalism, Television Production, Media Production, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience producing live sports television broadcasts, including experience in a coordinating producer, senior producer, or equivalent production leadership role.
  • Experience producing and overseeing live sports broadcasts in fast-paced environments, including responsibility for multiple productions, markets, or game assignments.
  • Experience managing production schedules, budgets, staffing, and production resources for live or remote productions.
  • Experience working with internal production teams, local or regional broadcast partners, vendors, and cross-functional technical and content teams.
  • Experience with REMI, centralized production, IP-based production, or cloud-enabled production workflows preferred.

Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes

  • High level of expertise producing compelling live sports broadcasts, with strong knowledge of NBA game production, storytelling, and presentation.
  • Extensive knowledge of NBA teams, players, league operations, historical context, and current storylines.
  • Strong editorial judgment and demonstrated ability to shape content and make effective production decisions under live broadcast deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of live sports production workflows, including producing, directing, replay, graphics integration, production coordination, and remote/centralized production operations.
  • Working knowledge of modern broadcast production systems and technologies, including REMI, IP-based, and cloud-enabled workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional production teams and coordinate multiple internal and external stakeholders in fast-paced live broadcast environments.
