Job description

We're looking for a social-first Art Director with 4-6 years of experience who can concept, design, and bring ideas to life across fast-moving digital and social channels.
You're a strong graphic designer and conceptual thinker, but you're also comfortable stepping onto a small production set, directing talent, and making confident creative decisions in the moment. You understand what makes content feel native to social while maintaining a high level of craft across lighting, styling, composition, and brand execution.
This is a remote role for someone based in Southern California, with regular in-person shoots throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
What You Bring
  • 4-6 years of art direction and design experience in an agency, studio, or similarly fast-paced creative environment
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating social-first concepts, graphic design craft, and multi-channel campaign execution
  • Proven experience developing paid and organic social content, including UGC-style and motion-led creative
  • Hands-on experience participating in and ideally leading small social or content shoots
  • Confidence directing talent, shaping performances, evaluating takes, and protecting the creative idea on set
  • Strong conceptual thinking and the ability to turn briefs and cultural insights into clear, executable ideas
  • Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, plus fluency in Figma
  • A strong eye for visual storytelling, typography, composition, and copy
  • The ability to translate brand guidelines into work that feels fresh, relevant, and native to each channel
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple fast-turn projects from concept through delivery
  • A collaborative, proactive working style: you ask sharp questions, respond well to feedback, and iterate quickly
  • Curiosity about AI and other emerging tools that can support ideation, design exploration, and production
  • Motion design, video editing, or animation experience is a plus
What You'll Do
  • Concept and design social-first creative across paid social, organic social, digital video, display, email, and landing pages
  • Develop UGC-style, creator-led, and motion-based ideas designed to capture attention and drive action
  • Help lead recurring social content shoots, partnering with production support to prepare concepts, shot lists, references, and on-set plans
  • Direct talent on smaller shoots, providing clear performance guidance and identifying the strongest takes and moments
  • Make real-time creative decisions around framing, composition, product presentation, styling, and brand consistency
  • Collaborate with production specialists or outside directors on larger, more complex shoots
  • Adapt campaign ideas for additional channels, including print, OOH, and broadcast
  • Partner closely with Account, Strategy, Production, and Project Management teams to meet milestones and respond to changing client needs
  • Balance quick-turn content assignments with larger conceptual, campaign, and branding opportunities
  • Experiment with AI tools where they can meaningfully improve ideation, iteration, or production
  • Mentor junior creatives and contribute to a culture of strong craft and knowledge-sharing
What Success Looks Like
  • You can move comfortably between concepting, designing, and directing
  • You bring both strong visual taste and a practical understanding of what can be produced
  • You're confident and communicative on set, including when working with nonprofessional or creator talent
  • You can maintain quality while responding to high-volume, last-minute assignments
  • Your work feels native to social without compromising brand standards or craft
  • Your files are organized, production-ready, and easy for others to pick up
Requirements
  • Graphic design training or equivalent professional experience; this is a designer-first Art Director role
  • Strong understanding of creative strategy, social trends, and design principles
  • Demonstrated experience taking work from concept through execution
  • Ability to work independently while contributing actively within a collaborative creative team
  • Must be based in Southern California
  • Must be available to work Pacific Time hours
  • Must be available to attend recurring in-person shoots and production days throughout the greater Los Angeles area

Regular day-to-day work will take place remotely.
