Overview

The Vice President - Business Development at Gallagher Bassett will effectively and independently pursue new business, inclusive of developing strategy and overall program architecture. Engage with prospects and brokers, developing a broad network for long-term pipeline growth and sales success. Positively represent the Gallagher Bassett brand in the marketplace to maximize revenue generation and profitability. Maintain knowledge of internal products and services. Effectively work with members of cross-functional teams including Client Services, Operations, and Marketing.

This role is remote, however, candidates must currently reside in one of the following states: Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio, or Michigan.
The position also requires the ability to travel up to 40% of the time based on business needs.


How you'll make an impact

Business Development Vice President has these primary goals within Gallagher Bassett: 

  • Develop and foster strong relationships with prospective clients resulting in more opportunities for GB and improved proposal, presentations, and win rates for our organization 
  • Ensure connectivity and credibility with key broker partners within your marketing territory; this includes conducting regular capability presentations and serving as liaison for such brokers with other GB colleagues (e.g., in Sales, Account Management and Claims) 
  • Raise awareness and reputation of Gallagher Bassett in your territory through leveraged marketing efforts including, but not limited to: 
  • Speaking engagements (speaking engagements must be on topics directly related to our business which advance the perception of GB’s expertise, innovation and capabilities in segments we serve or desire to serve) 
  • Meaningful role/attendance at industry events 
  • Hosting round-table sessions among industry stakeholders such as Risk Managers 
  • Through the above, your activity ensures GB remains well-regarded, considered for all TPA selection opportunities well positioned to address prospects unique requirements and positions GB for success. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve company goals 
  • Drive regional sales growth and meet or exceed sales targets 
  • Lead sales pursuit of calling on C-level executives in both middle market and Fortune 100 and 500 companies in the Region 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, prospects, brokers, insurance carriers and business partners 
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth 
  • Provide regular reports on sales performance and market trends to senior management

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in sales roles
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets
  • Track record of building and maintaining client relationships at the senior level
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and performance analysis
  • Ability to develop and execute business plans
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Decision-making and problem-solving
  • Demonstrated experience working within the Property & Casualty insurance industry, claims operations, risk management, brokerage, carrier, TPA, or related insurance services environment.
