A Remote Venture Capital job involves sourcing, evaluating, and managing investment opportunities in startups and high-growth companies, all while working from a remote location. Professionals in this role perform market research, conduct due diligence, and collaborate with entrepreneurs and investors without being tied to a physical office. Responsibilities can range from financial modeling and deal structuring to portfolio management and networking within the startup ecosystem. Strong analytical skills, communication abilities, and a keen understanding of emerging market trends are essential for success in this field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Venture Capital position, and why are they important?

A successful Remote Venture Capital professional needs strong financial analysis, due diligence, and market research skills, often backed by a degree in finance, business, or a related field. Familiarity with investment management tools, CRM systems, and data analytics platforms is essential for remote collaboration and efficient deal flow tracking. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and self-motivation are standout soft skills for cultivating networks and sourcing deals independently. These abilities enable remote professionals to identify promising startups, make informed investment decisions, and build effective connections in a highly competitive field.

What unique challenges might I encounter when working as a Remote Venture Capital professional?

Working remotely in venture capital often requires maintaining strong network connections and sourcing deals without regular in-person interactions, which can be challenging in a field built on relationships. Staying proactive and organized is key, as you'll need to manage multiple deals and conversations simultaneously without access to traditional office support. Job description

Decile Group builds the infrastructure that powers venture capital firms. We provide fund administration, compliance, and operational support to hundreds of emerging fund managers across the country. As we scale, we need a senior CPA to own the tax function for our fund clients, from partnership tax preparation and review through K-1 delivery.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. You will prepare and review partnership tax returns, coordinate K-1 production and delivery, and serve as the internal expert on fund-level tax questions. If your background is in individual tax, corporate tax, or large-firm compliance work with no exposure to pass-through entities and fund structures, this is not the right fit. If you have spent meaningful time in partnership tax, ideally in the fund administration, private equity, or venture capital space, keep reading.

What you'll own
  • Prepare and review federal and state partnership tax returns (Form 1065 and related schedules) for venture capital fund clients
  • Manage K-1 production, quality review, and delivery to limited partners
  • Coordinate with fund accountants and external CPAs to gather source data and resolve discrepancies
  • Respond to tax notices and support client inquiries on fund-level tax matters
  • Track filing deadlines across a portfolio of funds and ensure nothing slips
  • Identify and flag technical issues (allocations, Section 704(b), carried interest treatment, PFIC considerations) and escalate appropriately
  • Support process improvements to make the K-1 delivery workflow faster and more accurate at scale
What You Have:
  • Active CPA license
  • 5+ years of experience in partnership tax, with meaningful time spent on fund structures (venture capital, private equity, or fund of funds)
  • Deep fluency with Form 1065, Schedule K-1, and state composite/withholding filing requirements
  • Experience working in or alongside a fund administrator, registered investment advisor, or public accounting firm with an investment management practice
  • Familiarity with fund accounting concepts: capital accounts, waterfall mechanics, allocation schedules
  • Comfort with tax software (UltraTax, CCH Axcess, or similar)
  • Strong reviewer instincts; you catch what others miss
  • Self-directed work style; you manage your own deadlines without being chased
What We Offer:
  • Meaningful impact through building infrastructure that expands access to venture capital globally
  • Opportunity for career growth and role expansion as the platform scales
  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience
  • Remote-first work environment with thoughtful, high-caliber teammates
  • A working schedule for adults, including flexible hours and flexible PTO
$95,000 - $130,000 a year
Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience.
How to Apply:
If you don't tick every box above, we'd still encourage you to apply. We're building a diverse team whose skills balance and complement one another.
