Remote Vehicle Wrap Installer information

What is a remote vehicle wrap installer?

A Remote Vehicle Wrap Installer is a professional who applies vinyl wraps, graphics, or decals to vehicles at locations other than a centralized shop, often traveling to client sites. They are skilled in prepping vehicle surfaces, measuring and aligning wraps, and ensuring a smooth, bubble-free finish. This role requires expertise in handling various types of wraps, attention to detail, and often some knowledge of graphic design. Remote installers typically work independently, providing flexible, on-site services to car owners, dealerships, or businesses. The job may also involve removing old wraps and maintaining tools and materials.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote vehicle wrap installer?

To thrive as a Remote Vehicle Wrap Installer, you need proficiency in vinyl wrapping techniques, attention to detail, and experience with automotive surfaces, often supported by relevant training or certifications in vehicle wrap installation. Familiarity with tools such as heat guns, squeegees, cutting tools, and measuring devices is crucial, as well as knowledge of digital design software for custom graphics. Strong problem-solving, communication, and time management skills help installers adapt to varying vehicle types and remote work environments. These skills ensure high-quality, durable installations and client satisfaction in a competitive and detail-oriented industry.

What are some common challenges faced by remote vehicle wrap installers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote vehicle wrap installers often encounter challenges such as working in varied environments, managing logistics for transporting materials, and ensuring high-quality application without direct on-site support. To overcome these issues, many installers develop strong organizational skills, establish clear communication with clients and teams, and invest in portable tools and climate-adaptive materials. Staying updated on best practices and maintaining a meticulous approach to surface preparation and installation can also help ensure consistent results regardless of the work location.

This is a fully remote position, with a strong preference for candidates located in or around Indianapolis, Indiana. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, traveling to customer sites, and seeing complex machinery go from the shop floor to full installation and operation.

We are open to candidates at all experience levels, including experienced Machine Builders, Field Service Technicians, Installation Technicians, and Lead-level professionals.

What You'll Do
  • Perform complete mechanical and electrical installation of custom automated equipment at customer facilities.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and other equipment-related issues.
  • Work with customer teams and internal engineering personnel to complete installations safely and efficiently.

  • Travel time is paid.
  • This is a remote position, so you can be based outside of Indianapolis; however, Indianapolis is the preferred location.
Compensation & Travel Benefits
  • Pay up to $45/hour, based on experience.
  • $7,200 annual vehicle allowance, paid bi-weekly.
  • Gas/fuel expenses can be expensed separately.
  • 1.5x overtime for hours worked between 40–60 per week.
  • 2x overtime for hours worked over 60 per week.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience with machine building, equipment installation, field service, or industrial automation.
  • Strong mechanical assembly and troubleshooting skills.
  • Electrical experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with PLCs and controls is a plus.
  • Pneumatic system experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Comfortable working with tools, rigging, forklifts, and other equipment used during machine installation.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants the flexibility of a remote position without being tied to a traditional office or plant environment.
You'll work on custom automated equipment, travel to a variety of customer facilities, and gain exposure to complex machinery and automation projects—all while earning a competitive hourly rate with paid travel, a $7,200 vehicle allowance, reimbursed fuel, and significant overtime earning potential.
