What is remote value engineering?

Remote value engineering refers to the process of optimizing projects, products, or systems for maximum value using virtual tools and collaboration, rather than working on-site. Value engineers analyze functions, costs, and performance remotely, identifying ways to improve quality while reducing unnecessary expenses. This approach leverages digital platforms for team meetings, data sharing, and project management, making value engineering accessible regardless of physical location. Remote value engineering is especially relevant for companies with distributed teams or projects in multiple geographic areas.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote value engineering roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in remote value engineering often face challenges such as coordinating effectively with cross-functional teams across different time zones and ensuring that communication remains clear without face-to-face meetings. To address these challenges, it's important to leverage collaboration tools, establish regular check-ins, and document project decisions thoroughly. Additionally, understanding the unique needs of each project and maintaining open lines of communication with stakeholders helps ensure that value engineering recommendations are implemented successfully. Building strong virtual relationships is key to navigating the remote environment.

About Syllo

Syllo is defining the Litigation AI category. We are the first unified platform designed to autonomously manage the entire litigation lifecycle end-to-end. Founded in 2019 by a team of litigators and engineers, Syllo enables legal teams to securely harness the power of AI across any matter, regardless of complexity or scale. Our technology supports Fortune 500 companies and AmLaw 200 firms managing their most complex litigation portfolios. Awarded ILTA Transformative Project of the Year and ALM eDiscovery Technology of the Year for 2026, we are the market leader in enterprise-grade litigation AI. Backed by top-tier VCs, we are at a clear inflection point — the team has doubled in the last six months and growth is accelerating.

About the role

Syllo is seeking a Director, Value Engineering to help law firms and corporations realize the full value of the unified Syllo platform. Reporting to the EVP of GTM and working closely with Sales, Sales Directors, and the Managing Director, Sales, this leader will build the financial and strategic narrative behind Syllo's platform — from profitability modeling and deal scoping to executive-level briefings with our most sophisticated clients.

What you will do

  • Quantify value: Partner directly with the sales team to build and present tailored profitability and ROI models that quantify the value of Syllo's platform.
  • Conduct deep discovery: Perform in-depth discovery into a prospect's current workflows, cost structure, and case economics, translating findings into compelling, data-backed business cases.
  • Deliver executive briefings: Design and deliver executive-level briefings and business case presentations for C-suite and Big Four-caliber decision-makers at law firms and corporations.
  • Scope and structure deals: Help Sales appropriately scope and structure deals, ensuring pricing and packaging align with the value delivered and each client's success criteria.
  • Scale value selling: Build reusable value frameworks, ROI calculators, and business case templates to scale value-selling across the sales organization.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with Product, Marketing, and Customer Success to ensure value messaging is consistent from first pitch through renewal and expansion.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor: Help strategic accounts build internal buy-in and secure budget for their Syllo investment.
  • Refine frameworks: Continuously refine value models based on deal outcomes, client feedback, and evolving market dynamics.

What you bring

  • Value engineering expertise: Proven experience in Value Engineering, management consulting, financial analysis, or a similar value-focused discipline within enterprise software/SaaS.
  • Financial modeling: Proven ability to build and present financial and ROI models, including profitability and business case analysis, to senior and executive stakeholders.
  • Executive presence: Comfort delivering Big Four-caliber executive briefings and presentations to C-suite audiences.
  • Analytical mindset: Ability to translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives.
  • Cross-functional leadership: Demonstrated success partnering cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Marketing, and Customer Success.
  • Legal domain curiosity: Experience in legal tech, eDiscovery, or the legal industry is a plus.

Experience and qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Value Engineering, management consulting, financial analysis, or a similar value-focused discipline within enterprise software/SaaS.
  • Proven track record of building and presenting financial/ROI models.
  • Experience in legal tech or professional services economics is a strong plus.
  • Advanced Excel/modeling proficiency required.
  • Bachelor's degree required.

Total rewards and benefits

At Syllo, we believe in taking care of our team so they can focus on building the future of legal tech.

Compensation: $180,000-$225,000 + equity options.

Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, and voluntary insurance options. Vacation, sick leave, and paid holidays. Access to benefit counselors and fitness class reimbursements.

Growth: Annual learning and development budget and real career growth in a fast-scaling organization.
