Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Do you have an interest in becoming an experienced electrical or mechanical technician? Are you able
and capable of working at extreme heights? Konecranes has many opportunities open across the United
States that we are looking to fill with mechanically inclined individuals. At Konecranes, technicians are
the heart of our industry. Our technicians work in a safety-first type of environment and don't mind
heights or working on mechanical parts. As a technician, you will be working with 480 3 phase motors,
troubleshooting issues with our cranes, and working with clients and facility directors to ensure that our
clients are properly being taken care of. Our service technicians have the opportunity to experience
new and challenging situations with each job.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform maintenance and repairs, modernization and installation activities on electric overhead
traveling cranes at a nuclear power plant.
• Conduct extensive on-site electrical, mechanical and electronic troubleshooting to determine
cause for equipment malfunction and establish the necessary repairs utilizing visual inspection,
test procedures and appropriate test equipment. Document findings and make corrective
recommendations to the home office including a written Safety Summary of any observed or
known safety concerns, if appropriate. Complete and provide proper checklist and required
forms for each service, obtaining the customer's signature on appropriate forms to document
acceptance.
• Read, understand and apply the contents of all OSHA, ASME, NOG, ANSI, CMAA, HMI and other
codes or regulations pertaining to our industry. Refresh and update knowledge periodically.
• Complete service reports and other required and appropriate documents in a professional,
accurate, neat and legible manner and submit same in a timely manner and in accordance with
established guidelines.
• Maintain regular communication with the service office and Service Supervisor, in accordance
with established practices.
• Maintain all company issued equipment, vehicle (if applicable) and assets in a safe and proper
working order. Operate tools, equipment and vehicles in a safe and responsible manner. Notify
supervisor of any deficiencies for resolution.
• Follow all established safety rules and procedures, including those established by the customer.
• Maintain company vehicle (if applicable) and uniforms in a clean and presentable manner.
• Participate in monthly safety meetings.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
• Skills needed to perform the job well.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or equivalent required. An Associate's degree in Industrial
Electrical/Mechanical Technology or related field or equivalent vocational/technical training and
experience is a plus.
• One (1) to three (3) years' experience involving advanced electrical troubleshooting and
mechanical repair of electric overhead cranes is required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Must have and maintain a good driving record, including a valid driver's license. Must be willing
and able to work at elevations and must be able to pass background checks that are required to
gain access to nuclear power plants and secure government facilities. Must be able to work
varied overtime, as required by customer, and be able to travel and work away from home for
extended periods of time.
• 75-90% Travel required.
Additional Information
Salary: $22 - $48 an hour - Pay is determined based on skills, geographic location, internal equity, market/data analysis, number of years of prior relevant experience, degrees and/or certifications, technical assessment score, etc.
Vehicle: Our Service Technicians use rental vehicles due to the extensive travel away from home. Candidates must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
