Job description

WE ARE:
Monterey Technologies, Inc. applies human-centered systems engineering to the design and development of complex, critical systems. Our human modeling approach helps our clients deliver improved human and system performance at lower life cycle costs. Our human-centered approach to problem-solving ensures that we understand the human dimension before recommending technology solutions.

THE ROLE:
As a Sr. UX Designer, you will significantly apply UX in MTI’s user-centered research, analysis, design, and development process. You will work independently and as part of a team as you lead tasks, support junior engineers, and create highly effective solutions, including digital products, physical products, and work systems.
 
Security Clearance Required
  • Due to federal contract requirements, applicants must be U.S. persons and eligible for a U/S. security clearance
YOUR DUTIES
  • Conduct user-centered research and usability testing.
  • Create user flows, wireframes, visual styles, interaction design, UI components, etc.
  • Apply user-centered design processes to evaluate existing systems and contribute to new designs.
  • Effectively communicate design processes and findings to team members and stakeholders.
  • Select, apply, and support team members in using tools and standards such as the System Usability Scale (SUS), UI style guides, etc.
  • Oversee junior personnel in specific tasks, demonstrating an understanding of how various tasks and team member roles contribute to overall project success.
  • Independently manage complex tasks and collaborate with peers to achieve project objectives.
  • Lead and engage with cross-functional teams to gather user requirements and understand design needs. Lead the analysis of user interaction data to inform design decisions.
  • Create and maintain design mockups, prototypes, style guides, and design documentation.
  • Lead design reviews, facilitating the exchange of constructive feedback. 
  • Foster a collaborative and user-centric approach within the team, encouraging knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Advocate for User-Centered Design processes and mentor junior researchers.
  • Contribute to proposals and capture efforts.
YOUR SKILLS
  • Must have US DoD Security Clearance
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. 
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in a UX/HFE environment
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Adobe CC (especially XD), Figma, Axure, Sketch, etc.
  • A commitment to understanding and advocating for the needs and preferences of end users across a program.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex human factors findings and recommendations articulately to a wide range of audiences.
  • Developing leadership and mentorship skills; ability to cultivate a culture of user-centric design and knowledge sharing.
