Job description

About Us
Join us in building the leading AI-Powered Mission Control for Corporate Travel. Some of the world's most recognizable companies, representing over $4T in market value, rely on Clarasight's software to reduce risks, save costs, protect revenues, and manage emissions aligned with business objectives and sustainability goals.
About You
You are a builder at heart - curious, analytical, and energized by turning complex financial and travel data into tools that people actually use. You move fluidly between data science, prototyping, and product thinking, and you're just as comfortable exploring a messy dataset as you are shipping a prototype into customers' hands. You thrive on iteration, customer feedback, and the challenge of making advanced techniques - including machine learning and LLMs - deliver real, measurable value.
About the Role
  • We are seeking a Data Scientist to create product prototypes that address customer needs and enhance platform capabilities.
  • This role translates analytical insights into actionable tools, using advanced data techniques and customer feedback to shape what ships next.
  • You will work across financial and travel spend data, collaborate closely with advisory, forecasting, and engineering partners, and help define how data science shows up in the Clarasight product.
Key Responsibilities
Prototype & Product Development
  • Design and develop product prototypes based on financial and travel spend analysis and client data.
  • Utilize Python, R, JavaScript, or Tableau to build scalable, testable tools for customers.
  • Iterate on prototypes based on customer feedback to refine and improve usability.
  • Work with engineering teams to operationalize data science workflows, ensuring scalability and long-term viability of prototypes.

Data Integration & Insight Generation
  • Lead data integration efforts across diverse sources and formats, ensuring clean, reliable, and unified datasets that power analytics and product features.
  • Leverage customer datasets to identify trends, generate insights, and create impactful solutions.
  • Collaborate with advisory and forecasting specialists to integrate insights into product design.

Advanced Techniques & Visualization
  • Explore and implement advanced techniques like machine learning, use of large language models for preliminary analyses, or optimization to improve the accuracy, speed, and efficiency of financial analytics tools.
  • Create dynamic visualizations and dashboards to provide clients with actionable financial insights in an intuitive format.
You'll Be a Great Fit If You...
  • Have experience in data science with a focus on finance, economics, travel spend analytics, or corporate cost management.
  • Have expertise in data integration - including ETL pipelines, API connections, and harmonizing data across multiple systems and formats.
  • Are proficient in Python, R, or JavaScript for data analysis and tool development.
  • Are familiar with building and testing product prototypes in an iterative environment.
  • Have strong knowledge of corporate finance principles, cost optimization strategies, and economic modeling.
  • Have experience developing data-driven tools and applications that enable stakeholders to make informed financial decisions.
  • Can communicate complex concepts to non-expert audiences effectively.
Nice to Haves
  • Experience working alongside AI systems and applying human judgment to automated outputs.
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs or ML models applied to financial or spend data.
  • Familiarity with corporate travel, expense, or emissions datasets.
  • Experience shipping prototypes into production alongside engineering teams.
Diverse Perspectives
We know that innovation thrives on teams where diverse points of view come together to solve hard problems in ways that are just now possible. As such, we explicitly seek people that bring diverse life experiences, diverse educational backgrounds, diverse cultures, and diverse work experiences. Please be prepared to share with us how your perspective will bring something unique and valuable to our team.
We Offer
  • Generous options in our early stage startup for key members of the team.
  • Working among a diverse, expert team at the forefront of climate tech, behavioral change, and people technology.
  • Opportunity to make a foundational contribution to our mission: close the gap between climate-related intention and action.
  • Remote and Hybrid work environments.
  • Robust benefits including full medical, dental and vision insurance, 401k (or similar retirement programs) and sustainability benefit ($500 annually to spend on increasing personal sustainability).
