Position Purpose:
The Rental Delivery Driver delivers rental equipment to our customers and provides basic operational training on the proper and appropriate use. Additionally, the Rental Delivery Driver is responsible for verifying the equipment is clean and operational prior to and after each delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
  • 5% - Administrative Work - Maintains accurate parts and fleet inventories through proper documentation. Remains current on local licensing and safety requirements.
  • 60% - Equipment Deliver and Pickup - Loads and unloads equipment on trailers, including proper securing and tie-down of equipment using proper cargo securement methods. Performs local deliveries and pick-ups of rental equipment to and from customer job sites and provides basic operational training for customers. Obtain the appropriate signatures for each delivery or pickup.
  • 20% - Equipment Deployment to Stores - Assists with the deployment of new equipment to store locations, including performing Pre-Delivery Inspections, delivering to the store, and training store associates on the operation of the equipment. Completes proper check-in and check-out procedures for equipment at store locations. Document all work performed using appropriate technology platform.
  • 5% - Other Duties - Performs other duties assigned by direct leader or other authorized personnel.
  • 10% - Professionalism - Maintain professional appearance wearing THD-selected uniforms. Demonstrates high-quality customer service, and always maintains professional conduct.

  • This Position typically reports to Regional Field Ops Manager, or Rental Regional Manager, or Rental Operations Supervisor.

Travel Requirements:
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.

Physical Requirements:
  • Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, and lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.

Working Conditions:
  • Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, fumes, or odors.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be twenty-one years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Valid DOT Physical Examination (Medical Card)
  • One (1) year of Commercial Driving experience within the previous 5 years.
  • Safe driving record
  • Knowledge of and/or experience driving delivery trucks, towing tandem axle utility trailers and towable construction equipment, operating safely within high traffic or congested city zones and in small areas
  • Knowledge of local major and minor roadways and the ability to effectively use maps and directions for efficient delivery routing
  • Working understanding of safe load securement, tie-downs, and transport
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Motor Carrier Safety regulations/DOT guidelines
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work effectively with different personality types and all levels of associates
  • Working knowledge of handheld technology (smartphone, laptop, tablet)
  • Ability to operate in extreme outdoor working conditions
  • Ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances, including weather, traffic, and others
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, doing what is necessary to exceed customer expectations

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to convey complex or technical ideas and processes in easy-to-understand terms to diverse audiences
  • Ability to negotiate, handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances with both internal and external customers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • One (1) year of commercial motor vehicle driving experience with a flatbed trailer within the previous 5 years
  • Experience in Equipment Rental Industry (mechanical, driving, counter sales, customer service, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of compact construction equipment, including trenching and earthmoving machines
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot
