Senior Data Governance Engineer
On behalf of our healthcare client, Procom is searching for a Senior Data Governance Engineer for a 3-month role that may go permanent. This position is a remote with EST work hours.
Job Description:
The Senior Data Governance Engineer will lead efforts to scale governance across the Azure Databricks platform. This role involves designing and implementing security and compliance controls, working closely with multiple stakeholders to embed governance across the Azure Databricks ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
• Define and implement permissions models across Databricks product surfaces
• Establish and enforce Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) models
• Review and maintain Git/Repos integration and best practices
• Oversee Unity Catalog and Metastore hierarchy and security
• Translate data mesh principles into actionable platform patterns
• Curate and maintain the data catalog and build lineage dashboards
• Write and maintain Terraform scripts for infrastructure provisioning
Mandatory Skills:
• Deep expertise with Databricks Unity Catalog and Metastore administration
• Strong command of Azure services, including Azure Data Lake Gen2 and Azure SQL Managed Instance
• Proven experience with RBAC implementation and PII masking
• Proficiency in Python and/or Scala, and SQL for governance policy scripting
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tooling, like Terraform
• Working knowledge of data lineage standards and catalog tooling
Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Knowledge of healthcare data standards (claims, EHR, HL7, FHIR)
• Background in healthcare analytics
• Experience with data contract templates and schema evolution policies
• Familiarity with federated governance models
• Ability to automate tag propagation across Delta tables
Assignment Length:
This is a 3-month contract position with the possibility of becoming permanent.
