Position Overview

Union Family Counseling Center is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced licensed mental health counselor to join our compassionate team. Work Environment

This position primarily operates in a remote setting, allowing you to provide care from the safety and comfort of your home or preferred location. However, you will also be connected to our outpatient office in Chattanooga, collaborating with a network of passionate professionals in behavioral health. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough initial assessments and interviews with clients, meticulously documenting their progress from the first consultation through to the conclusion of treatment.
• Evaluate each client's mental, behavioral, and emotional states to determine an appropriate treatment route tailored to their individual needs.
• Design and implement comprehensive intervention and recovery plans geared for various demographics, including individuals, couples, families, and groups.
• Facilitate engaging and effective individual and group therapy sessions, creating a safe space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings.
• Continuously monitor client progress by reviewing treatment goals and adjusting plans as necessary to enhance therapeutic outcomes.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as medical doctors, nurses, and social workers, on integrated care strategies to aid client recovery.
• Follow up with psychiatrists or attending physicians for comprehensive care coordination for clients who may require hospitalization.
• Recognize and address behaviors that obstruct client recovery, employing strategies to promote mental wellness.
• Support families and primary caregivers in managing the mental and behavioral challenges faced by their loved ones.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your focus will be on a diverse clientele seeking assistance for a variety of mental health concerns, including anxiety disorders, depression, relationship issues, and trauma-related challenges. By utilizing evidence-based practices and being well-versed in the latest developments in psychotherapy, you will make significant contributions toward improving their health and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is essential.
• Applicants must possess a current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LPC/MHSP, LPC, or LCSW in Tennessee.
• A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE) is required.
• Prior experience as a mental health counselor is important, allowing you to bring a wealth of knowledge into your new role.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, such as AVATAR, is preferred to streamline documentation and care processes.
• A thorough understanding of various psychological conditions, as well as addiction disorders, will strongly benefit your practice.
• Familiarity with best practices from the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) is advantageous for providing the highest standard of care.
• Exemplary written and verbal communication skills are crucial for effectively interacting with clients and team members.
• Strong interpersonal abilities and a compassionate demeanor are key attributes for successful engagement with clients.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working with various mental health conditions and proficiency in offering evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
• Knowledge of the potential impact of prescribed medications on mental health is beneficial for informed counseling practices.

Compensation and Benefits
