In this role, you will provide expert mental health care to clients, focusing on their emotional, behavioral, and psychological well-being. Your responsibilities will include conducting assessments, developing tailored treatment plans, and facilitating therapy sessions to promote healing and recovery.

About the Organization

Work Environment

This position is uniquely designed for professionals who thrive in a telehealth setting. As part of our remote team, you will engage with clients through secure video conferencing, using advanced telehealth technology. Union Family Counseling Center prioritizes work-life balance and provides the flexibility to manage your schedule, allowing you to deliver high-quality care from the comfort of your home. Our organization leverages innovative electronic health record systems, such as AVATAR, for seamless documentation and client management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting comprehensive mental health evaluations during initial consultations to establish a baseline for treatment.
  • Documenting all client interactions from the first meeting through discharge, ensuring accurate case management for improved outcomes.
  • Developing, implementing, and adjusting individualized treatment plans that address the specific needs of individuals, couples, families, and groups.
  • Facilitating therapeutic sessions, offering both individual and group counseling in a manner that promotes engagement and personal growth.
  • Monitoring client progress throughout the treatment journey, making revisions to the treatment plans as necessary based on feedback and observed changes.
  • Collaborating closely with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses, to enhance the therapeutic experience and continuity of care.
  • Providing support for clients transitioning to or from hospital settings, ensuring clear communication with healthcare providers.
  • Identifying potential obstacles to recovery and employing preventative measures to facilitate clients' emotional and behavioral growth.
  • Engaging with family members and primary caregivers to provide them with tools and resources for managing mental health challenges.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your clients will vary widely in demographics and mental health needs, including adolescents, adults, and families facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance abuse. You will be instrumental in guiding these diverse individuals on their journey toward recovery, employing evidence-based practices tailored to each client's unique situation.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure as an LMFT, LPC/MHSP, LPC, or LCSW in the state of Tennessee.
  • Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to express empathy and understanding.
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in mental health care.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience as a mental health counselor, particularly in telehealth settings, is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems, specifically AVATAR, to ensure efficient case management.
  • Experience in dealing with various mental health conditions, including co-occurring disorders and substance use issues.
  • Knowledge of best practices outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
  • Understanding the implications of prescribed medications on clientsโ€™ mental health conditions.
