Flexibility in scheduling allows for a balanced work-life experience while meeting the needs of our diverse client base, primarily within the Chicago metropolitan area.

Key Responsibilities

As a mental health counselor, you will be responsible for a range of essential functions tailored to support your clients effectively:

  • Conduct comprehensive preliminary interviews and provide thorough documentation from the initial client consultation through to the conclusion of treatment.
  • Evaluate clients' mental, emotional, and behavioral health to identify challenges and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Create individualized recovery and intervention strategies for clients, including individuals, couples, families, and groups.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, applying therapeutic techniques that promote healing and personal growth.
  • Regularly monitor client progress throughout treatment, adjusting plans as necessary to meet evolving needs.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, social workers, and medical doctors, to design and execute multi-disciplinary intervention plans.
  • Provide follow-up care and support to clients admitted to inpatient facilities, working closely with attending physicians.
  • Identify and mitigate behaviors that may hinder recovery, while providing guidance to family members and caregivers.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on diverse populations grappling with various mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders. Our clients include individuals of all ages and backgrounds, reflecting the vibrant community in which we operate. With a high commitment to inclusivity, you will cater to the unique needs of each client, fostering an environment of trust and respect.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A master's or doctoral degree in an accredited program in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology.

  • A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
  • Strong proficiency in electronic health record systems, particularly with platforms such as AVATAR.
  • Previous professional experience in mental health counseling is essential.
Preferred Experience

In addition to the mandatory qualifications, the following experience will set you apart:

  • Familiarity with the best practices as outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
  • In-depth understanding of the impact of pharmacological treatments provided by healthcare specialists.
  • Previous experience working with patients dealing with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Exemplary communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with a compassionate approach to client interactions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, allowing for the cultivation of effective, therapeutic relationships with clients.
Compensation and Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $100,000 annually, reflecting your experience and skills, along with potential sign-on bonuses. You will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Healthcare benefits to support your well-being.
  • A retirement savings plan with employer contributions to help secure your financial future.
  • Generous paid time off and holiday pay, promoting work-life balance.
  • Continuing education opportunities, including support for professional development, to enhance your counseling skills.
  • Opportunities for career advancement within our practice as we grow and expand.
  • A collaborative work culture where you are encouraged to share ideas and support one another.
