Job description

Job Summary
The Safety Training Specialist at Mullins Mechanical is responsible for administering Safety Training at the jobsite level. They ensure all employees are onboarded per the standard operating process and facilitate the expectations of the required Safety Programs and required Annual Safety Trainings. The overall goal of the safety training specialist is to protect Mullins' interests, support employees and on-site supervision helping them successfully complete a quality project safely with zero incidents, while promoting and enhancing client relationships and the company core values.
Reporting Structure
Reports to the Corporate Safety Trainer.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Support and promote Mullins' safety culture at the job-site level
  • Use discretion, independent judgement, and professional skills to plan and implement safety training from the corporate training program that applies to each jobsites scope and needs
  • Coordinate onboarding efforts with Human Resources and the Recruiting Department
  • Collaborate with the Project Management team to schedule and conduct safety training as needed, the use of on-site safety coordinators may be needed or required at times and should be coordinated with the Project Managers and Corporate Safety Trainer
  • Submit Monthly & Quarterly Reports to the Corporate Safety Trainer
  • Have full capabilities to train on higher level training courses:
    • Mobile Elevated Working Platform (MEWP)
    • Telehandler/Forklift (TELE)
    • First-Aid/CPR/AED
    • Confined Space
    • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
    • Heavy Equipment
    • Scaffold Competency
    • Fall Protection
    • Ladder Safety
  • Make recommendations to improve processes and procedures and look for ways to continuously improve Mullins' Safety Training Program and related policies and procedures
  • Maintain a culture and working environment where safety and its required training is planned in every task
  • Maintain detailed training files and records
  • Ensure PPE requirements are met by all employees on-site through proper training and culture building strategies.
  • Build proficiency within Procore, Schoox, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.

*Duties outside of what is listed here may be required. This position will require travel to site and extended periods of travel based off training needs for each project. *
Minimum Requirements
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification
  • First Aid / CPR Certification
  • OSHA 510 Certification
  • Minimum three (3) years of safety experience
  • BCSP or equivalent certification required or obtained within 1 year of employment
  • Preferred: Five (5)+ years' experience, OSHA 500, BCSP certifications
  • Safety training/certifications in areas such as LOTO, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Scaffolding, Excavation and Trenching, HAZCOM, etc.
  • Ability to track and manage large quantities of data and information in an organized manner with the use of computer programs
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills required, Spanish preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict/resolution skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to find solutions in a timely manner.

Physical Demands, Travel & Work Environment
  • Hybrid role, traveling to projects as required to conduct training, office work when travel is not required
  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds and push/pull up to twenty-five (25) pounds
  • Prolonged standing, walking, and physical activity required
  • Ability to navigate active construction sites and elevated work areas
  • Ability to work extended shifts, including nights, weekends, and up to seven (7) days per week as required
  • Work performed in active construction environments with exposure to weather, noise, and PPE requirements
