What is a remote travel?

A Remote Travel job allows professionals to work from anywhere while assisting clients with travel planning, booking, and support. These roles can include travel agents, coordinators, or consultants who communicate with clients online or by phone. Responsibilities may involve researching destinations, arranging accommodations, and providing travel advice. Many remote travel jobs are commission-based or salary-plus-commission roles, often requiring experience in the travel industry or customer service.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in remote travel?

To thrive in a Remote Travel Agent or Consultant role, you need customer service expertise, sales acumen, knowledge of travel industry practices, and typically experience with booking systems or travel platforms. Familiarity with Global Distribution Systems (GDS), online booking engines, and relevant certifications like IATA or ASTA is highly valued. Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment set top candidates apart. These skills are essential to efficiently serve clients, build trust, and manage complex travel arrangements from afar.

What are some common challenges faced by remote travel professionals?

Remote travel professionals often need to manage clients across multiple time zones and handle urgent booking changes at any hour. Navigating and mastering a range of booking platforms, travel regulations, and vendor systems can also be challenging, especially without in-person team support. However, successful agents typically develop strong digital communication strategies and leverage advanced organizational tools to stay connected and efficient. Ongoing self-motivation and adaptability are key to thriving in this dynamic, client-focused environment.

At International SOS, we are in the business of protecting and saving lives. For 40 years, we have delivered customised security risk management, health, and wellbeing solutions to organisations worldwide. With a presence in 90 countries and a team of nearly 13,000 experts, we provide 24/7 support to help organisations fulfil their Duty of Care responsibilities.

Now, we're looking for talented individuals to join our team and make a difference.

The Package

We'll support you every step of the way, from guiding you through the labour mobility process to secure your Alberta license, to providing expanded role nursing training and ongoing professional development. This is your chance to grow professionally while creating meaningful impact where it matters most.

What's in It for You?

  • Convenient Transportation: Onsite transportation provided to make getting around easy.
  • Daily Meal Allowance: Receive a daily fare for subsistence to cover your meals.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Experience varied daily schedules across nursing stations, with 10-hour shifts, overtime opportunities, and on-call options.
  • Travel Coverage: Charter flights available for smooth access to remote communities.
  • Earn More Through Referrals: Bring great people on board and get rewarded.
Your Mission

As a Registered Nurse serving remote First Nations communities in Alberta, you will play a vital role in delivering holistic, culturally competent care within an expanded scope of practice. This position involves assessing patients of all ages with diverse health needs, using critical thinking and evidence-based guidelines to develop and implement care plans. You'll collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and interdisciplinary teams to provide primary care services, including newborn deliveries, acute illness treatment, and chronic care follow-ups. Beyond clinical duties, you'll educate, counsel, and advocate for patients while ensuring their physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being. In this dynamic environment, you'll manage urgent situations, coordinate medical evacuations when necessary, and maintain accurate documentation-all while making a meaningful impact in underserved communities.

How You'll Contribute

As a Registered Nurse, you'll make a lasting impact by delivering exceptional, culturally competent care to remote and isolated First Nations communities in Alberta. This role offers the chance to practice at the top of your scope, collaborate with a dedicated team, and provide meaningful care across all stages of life:

  • Deliver holistic, culturally sensitive community care tailored to the unique needs of remote and/or isolated First Nations communities.
  • Provide ethical, high-quality care to patients of all ages and acuity levels-from neonates and pediatrics to adolescents, adults, and the elderly.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including registered nurses, charge nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members, to ensure safe, effective care within your scope of practice.
  • Offer specialized services, such as wound care, prenatal care clinics, vaccination support, and chronic care follow-ups, to promote long-term health and wellness.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with established guidelines to uphold the highest standards of care.
The Talent We're Looking For

Minimum Requirements (must haves):

  • Current College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) RN license.
  • Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate (Heart and Stroke).
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate (Heart and Stroke).
  • Valid Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS) certificate (Heart and Stroke).
  • Valid International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certificate.
  • An active driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • 2 years of full-time nursing in the last five years in the emergency room, intensive care unit, or as a community health nurse in a remote/rural area.
  • Additional critical care nursing experience (cardiovascular intensive care unit, post-anesthesia unit) is an asset.
  • Alignment with our values of expertise, passion, respect, and care.

Preference for:

  • An elevated level of knowledge and the ability to interpret relevant medical and operational guidelines, protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Collaboration with others to achieve the best results and deliver the most value.
  • Holding others accountable and expecting others to do the same.

By joining International SOS, you will contribute to a global network dedicated to protecting people and organisations. We offer a dynamic and respectful workplace where expertise, innovation, and collaboration drive our success.
