Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Chief Engineer to join our team here at Raytheon-Rafael Area Protection Systems, LLC (R2S). As a Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the technical strategy, design, development, and execution of complex aerospace and defense systems. This role requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, program lifecycle management, and a commitment to delivering innovative solutions that meet customer and business needs. This role will be the technical counterpart to the product line director and will require close collaboration across multiple functions. Successful experience managing engineering processes across joint U.S. and Israeli cooperative programs is essential.
U.S. Citizenship is required as this position needs a U.S. Security Clearance (SECRET or higher).
Key Responsibilities:
โ€ข Serve as the technical authority and primary engineering leader for assigned programs or product lines.
โ€ข Develop and execute the technical vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with business objectives.
โ€ข Lead engineering review boards, failure investigations and supplier process engagements while working inter-organizationally to ensure correct resources are brought to bear on specific requirements.
โ€ข Oversee the design, development, integration, and testing of complex systems, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and R2S policies.
โ€ข Lead cross-functional engineering teams, fostering collaboration and innovation across disciplines.
โ€ข Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering staff, promoting professional growth and development for direct reports.
โ€ข Ensure adherence to R2S Integrated Product Development System (IPDS) and AS9100 Gated Process requirements.
โ€ข Collaborate with program management, executive leadership and customers to define technical requirements and deliverables.
โ€ข Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.
โ€ข Represent R2S as a technical expert in customer, government and industry engagements.
Perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.
Basic Qualifications:
โ€ข Master's degree in Engineering, Aerospace, or a related technical field.
โ€ข Minimum of 20 years of experience in engineering roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
โ€ข Minimum of 3 years managing engineering approvals and releases in the context of defense programs (preferably Israeli programs)
โ€ข Demonstrated expertise in mid-tier air and missile defense systems and components
โ€ข Proven track record of leading the development and delivery of complex aerospace or defense systems.
โ€ข Strong knowledge of systems engineering, program lifecycle management, and technical risk management.
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to manage engineering resources across multiple programs and provide strategy to ensure staff competencies and departmental bench strength to support business growth.
โ€ข Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
โ€ข Ability to gain and maintain a working relationship with domestic and international customers.
โ€ข Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, if required.
Preferred Qualifications:
โ€ข Experience with R2S or Raytheon processes and infrastructure.
โ€ข Familiarity with foreign and domestic government regulations
โ€ข Experience with compliance requirements in the aerospace and defense industry
