Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough crisis assessments for individuals experiencing acute mental health emergencies, utilizing evidence-based intervention techniques to address immediate needs.
• Provide timely counseling and therapeutic support to clients in distress, offering empathetic listening and professional guidance tailored to their unique situations.
• Collaborate with law enforcement and emergency personnel as needed to ensure client safety during crises, displaying clear communication and crisis management skills.
• Implement follow-up care strategies by developing personalized intervention plans and recommending additional resources or support systems for clients.
• Utilize and refine de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies to manage challenging situations effectively, ensuring a recovery-focused approach.
• Engage in continuous professional development opportunities to enhance your crisis counseling skills and stay current with best practices in mental health care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be individuals affected by addiction and those experiencing emotional crises. Many clients may have a history of trauma, which requires an understanding approach that combines both immediate intervention techniques and long-term therapeutic strategies. You will work with a diverse population, requiring cultural competence and an ability to connect with individuals from various backgrounds.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
• A minimum of three years of recent experience in crisis intervention and mental health counseling with a focus on addiction.
• Additional training or specialization in crisis counseling and trauma-informed care is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build rapport and trust with clients in high-stress situations.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct rapid assessments and develop personalized intervention plans.
• In-depth knowledge of ethical and legal standards pertinent to crisis counseling.

Compensation and Benefits
