Energy Storage Interconnection Project Manager (LGIA Management)
Locations: HOUSTON, TX AREA (HYBRID) / FULLY REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA)
This an opportunity to join an industry leading renewable energy venture and IPP with strong private equity backing that is focused on the development/execution of dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects. They are at the forefront of the industry, have accumulated over 8GW of projects in a relatively short period of time, and are currently in an accelerated expansion phase.
The Transmission Interconnection Engineering PM will work cross-functionally across the organization to ensure renewable energy projects are optimized and successfully make it through the full-lifecycle transmission interconnection process. It will take ownership of managing interconnection agreements & be heavily involved in critical interactions with the High Voltage EPC Team as well as key external stakeholders (ISO/RTOs, Transmission Owners, & Utilities).
This role is part of the Transmission, Interconnection, & Market Operations Team which is at the crux of the organization supporting Project Development, EPC, and Origination efforts for an organization taking on next generation challenges in the battery storage and renewable energy space.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Renewables Transmission Interconnection Engineering PM - Manages the full lifecycle interconnection application process including the LGIA application process, milestone, schedule, and deposit due dates
  • Renewables Transmission Interconnection Engineering PM - Assesses project related tariff requirement and develop the LGIA interconnection application packages for projects across various utility-scale renewable energy projects
  • Renewables Transmission Interconnection Engineering PM - Leads the information exchange process between technical staff focused on interconnection transmission planning studies and the development team to ensure timeline objectives are met
  • Renewables Transmission Interconnection Engineering PM - Leads the review, analysis, and interpretation of power system engineering (T-line and Substation Systems), transmission planning engineering, and transmission economic planning studies
  • Renewables Transmission Interconnection Engineering PM - Evaluates transmission interconnection system cost upgrades (HV Substations and Transmission Lines) and work with all stakeholders on necessary changes to the project development schedule
  • Renewables Transmission Interconnection Engineering PM - Advises the finance team on the cost of an network security upgrade cost associated with project development efforts that could impact delivery timelines
  • Renewables Transmission Interconnection Engineering PM - Represents the company across ISO/RTOs nationwide to better understand the needs of the key interconnection application stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering preferably Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering
  • Experience managing full-lifecycle transmission interconnection application management and LGIA processes
  • Well versed in transmission interconnection ISOs (independent system operator) and/or RTOs (regional transmission organization) negotiations
  • Ability to create, update, and optimize the interconnection process in alignment with EPC Schedules
  • Understanding of electricity market policy and rules with respect to interconnection and transmission planning
  • Working knowledge of high voltage EPC systems including High Voltage Substation and Transmission line modifications / upgrades as part of the transmission interconnection process
  • Working knowledge of High Voltage Engineering Design Review for HV substations. substation collections systems, and transmission lines for grid connected systems
  • Understanding of Power flow / load flow modeling calculations (PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, ASPEN, MUST, TARA, and/or PowerWorld)
  • Working knowledge of Utility-scale renewable energy operations (Wind, Solar, Energy Storage, Battery Storage)
  • Solution driven "get it done" attitude, strong communication, and presentation skills
