Job description

This position is part of the Sherman Indian High School, Bureau of Indian Education. As a School Counselor which provides a comprehensive school counseling program in a BIE school on or near the Reservation. This position requires SCHOOL YEAR CONTRACT per Public Law 95-561 and will require contract renewal on an annual basis. This position IS NOT suitable for telework or remote consideration under any circumstances.

Qualifications:Basis of Rating: All applicants for this position will be rated based upon the documentation submitted. Applications may be further evaluated by subject matter expert. The judgment of qualifications will be based on the material submitted; therefore, it is to the applicant's advantage to give complete and thorough responses and to present information in a neat and orderly fashion.
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and licensure contained in the approved job category for P.L. 95-561 described below.
School Counselor series-1710 requires BOTH Education and Licensure/Certification to qualify.
Required Education
Must have a Master's degree (or higher) in guidance and counseling psychology or closely related field from an accredited institution.
Required Licensure/Certification. This position has a qualification requirement of possessing and maintaining a valid State issued School Counselor licensure or certification.
Note:
  • If selected, MUST obtain and maintain state certification IN THE STATE WHERE position is located within two contract terms.
  • Emergency and provisional certifications may be accepted under the conditions imposed by the state certification authority.
  • Neither foreign nor DODEA certification is acceptable.
Applicants with valid State Certification in state other than where the position is located may be considered. If selected, they will be issued a provisional contract which outlines the requirement to obtain full State School Counselor Certification within two full contract terms.Education:To meet the education requirements, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts.
Officials and unofficial transcripts (photocopy or original) may be submitted. Advisement or web-printouts are NOT acceptable. Official transcripts are REQUIRED UPON SELECTION.
