We're currently seeking a Commercial Title Examiner to join our Operations team.

Performance Objectives

ย 

A Commercial/ Energyย Title Examiner. Energy Project Team (Remote, Contractor position) in the US. This person will beย responsible forย conducting comprehensive title searches,ย identifying, and resolving defects, and ensuring that property titles areย clear and free from encumbrances for utility or construction projects.ย Searching back to Patent or as far as the Integrity Title Plant goes.

  • Serve as subject matter expert inย sovereigntyย title, including examination,ย mineral/royalty,ย leasehold,ย underwriting /curativeย matters,ย and title insurance requirements.
  • Provide support as a trusted advisor and partner to our Energy teams and other internal partners, including the use of advanced technical and analytical skills to review mortgages, liens, legal descriptions, CC&Rs, easements,ย mineral/royalty conveyances,ย reservations, patents,ย production, leasehold,ย surveys sketches, surveys, right of ways maps and constructions plans.
  • Assistย with preparation and review of instruments of conveyance and related documents for proper form, accuracy, appropriateness, and completeness, plot metes andย boundsย legal descriptions.ย 
  • Resolve issues such as missing information, incomplete,ย inaccurate,ย or contradictory information contained in theย titleย documentation.
  • Prepare and/or reviewย initialย Energy Reports and/ orย title commitment, preliminary report or proforma based on the application of procedural guidelines.
  • With management, support the development and implementation of aย consistent,ย repeatable,ย and scalable title process through Service Legal Agreements and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Dive into the weeds with the commercial Energy team on a regularย basis,ย removing blockers, handlingย escalations,ย and communicating up and across asย appropriate toย assureย a smooth and seamless experience.
  • Performs other related duties asย required.

Competitive candidate profile

  • At leastย 5ย years' experienceย as aย Landmanย /Energyย Title Examinerย or equivalent
  • ย At least 3 years' experience as a Commercial Title Examinerย or equivalentBachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • ย Working Knowledge of commercialย and energyย title, including unimproved land acquisition and disposition.
  • ย Provenย ability to communicateย and work with team members to find resolutions for title flaws, issues, failures, or circumstances.
  • ย Proven ability to examine all relevant public records related to properties, including deeds, mortgages, wills, probate records, divorce records, court judgments, tax records, and more.ย 
  • ย Able to review and understand legal descriptions, sketches, surveys, right of way maps, construction plans.
  • ย Able toย assistย with the preparation and review of instruments of conveyance and related documents as well as plotย metesย andย boundsย legal descriptions,ย and understanding of PLSS, Lot/Block systems.
  • ย Demonstrated ability to quickly understand the business needs and partner with the business, commercial Energy Team, to create solutions and effectively deliver results.ย 
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.ย 
  • Ability to analyze,ย understandย and interpret title related documents.
  • ย Experience with industry recognized titleย platform, preferably RamQuest and Integrity Title Plant
