POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The UI/UX Developer will lead the creation of user-centered designs for DOE enterprise applications, ensuring accessibility, usability, and visual consistency across systems. This role will conduct user research, develop prototypes, design interfaces, and work with developers to implement responsive, WCAG-compliant solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct user experience research, requirement discovery, interviews, and usability assessments.
  • Design user journeys, storyboards, wireframes, prototypes, and UI mockups.
  • Create modern, accessible front-end interfaces using DOE technical and branding standards.
  • Translate complex workflows into intuitive, efficient user experiences.
  • Develop UI assets using Sketch, InVision, Adobe XD, or equivalent tools.
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure pixel-perfect implementation of UI/UX designs.
  • Ensure compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and ADA requirements.
  • Participate in Agile sprints, design reviews, and solution workshops.
  • Perform usability testing and support iterative UX improvements.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 8+ years in UI/UX design and development in enterprise technology environments
  • Deep knowledge of responsive design, interaction design, and front-end engineering best practices.
  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. Sketch, InVision, and Adobe XD
  • Experience creating intuitive application prototypes with best practices using Human-Centered Design and in compliance with WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards
  • Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments
  • Strong user empathy and design thinking
  • Excellent visual design and communication skills
  • Ability to translate business requirements into intuitive UI/UX solutions
  • Strong collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams
