What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Testing Psychologist, and why are they important?

To excel as a Remote Testing Psychologist, you need a doctoral degree in psychology, state licensure, and expertise in psychological assessment and test interpretation. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, secure data management systems, and digital assessment tools is essential. Strong communication, attention to detail, and cultural sensitivity are critical soft skills for building rapport and delivering accurate evaluations remotely. Remote Testing Psychologists often face challenges such as ensuring test security, maintaining standardized administration conditions, and managing technological issues during virtual assessments. Regular training on teleassessment best practices and staying updated with professional guidelines can also help maintain the validity and reliability of results.

What is a remote testing psychologist?

A remote testing psychologist is a licensed mental health professional who administers psychological assessments, such as cognitive or behavioral tests, to clients via secure online platforms rather than in person. These psychologists evaluate, diagnose, and sometimes provide recommendations based on test results, all conducted remotely. This approach allows for greater accessibility, especially for clients in underserved or rural areas. Remote testing psychologists must ensure that their assessments comply with ethical standards and legal regulations regarding telehealth.

Clinical Psychologist - Remote Asynchronous
Overview
Focus Clinic is seeking a Michigan-licensed Psychologist (PhD/PsyD) to provide remote, asynchronous psychological evaluations for children and adolescents navigating ADHD, executive functioning challenges, anxiety, mood concerns, and related learning and behavioral difficulties.
This role is ideal for a psychologist looking to fill gaps in their existing schedule with flexible, case-based work. Focus Clinic handles the intake visit, all in-person testing, and protocol-based documentation - so you can focus on what you do best: clinical interpretation, diagnosis, and thoughtful recommendations. AI-assisted documentation tools are available to support efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review pre-populated intake notes and standardized testing results documented by Focus Clinic technicians.
  • Add clinical diagnoses and author a thorough psychological assessment and recommendations report within 72 hours of case assignment.
  • Contact the patient or family via video visit or phone call if additional information is needed prior to signing off.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation aligned with clinical quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the Focus Clinic multidisciplinary team as needed to support whole-child outcomes.

Required Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or School Psychology (PhD or PsyD) from an accredited program.
  • Active Michigan Psychologist license in good standing (required).
  • Experience with psychological evaluation and diagnosis for children and adolescents (ADHD/executive functioning strongly preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based assessment, diagnostic formulation, and clinical recommendations.
  • Comfort reviewing and interpreting standardized testing protocols and intake documentation.
  • Comfort and effectiveness in communicating via Telehealth when needed.
  • Excellent written communication skills and attention to clinical detail.
  • Commitment to delivering care consistent with a faith-based and mission-driven culture.

Schedule and Structure
  • This is a 1099 independent contractor role with fully flexible, asynchronous scheduling.
  • Cases are assigned remotely and must be reviewed and documented within 72 hours of assignment.
  • Ideal for psychologists seeking to supplement their existing practice or fill gaps in their schedule.
  • No required clinic hours - work when and where it suits you.

Compensation
  • Competitive per-case compensation.
  • Productivity-based, with no minimum case load required.

Why Join Focus Clinic
  • Make a meaningful impact for kids and families who need practical tools and real progress.
  • Work within a supportive, multidisciplinary team (medical, psychological, and educational advocacy).
  • Fully remote and asynchronous - complete cases on your own schedule.
  • Technician scribe for data entry.
  • AI-assisted documentation tools to support efficiency and quality.
  • Access to a full panel of established patients through Focus Clinic's existing referral base.
