What is a Remote Telemetry job?

A Remote Telemetry job involves monitoring and analyzing data from remote sensors, equipment, or systems to ensure proper operation and performance. This role is common in industries like healthcare, energy, manufacturing, and aerospace, where real-time data collection is critical. Responsibilities may include configuring telemetry systems, troubleshooting connectivity issues, and interpreting data trends to prevent failures. Many positions require expertise in network communications, data analysis, and industry-specific software. Remote telemetry professionals help optimize performance, reduce downtime, and improve operational efficiency.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals working in remote telemetry roles?

Professionals in remote telemetry roles often encounter challenges such as managing and interpreting large volumes of real-time data from dispersed locations, ensuring the reliability of monitoring systems, and troubleshooting technical issues without on-site access. Additionally, they must coordinate effectively with multiple teams, sometimes across different time zones, to resolve anomalies or respond to alerts quickly. Adapting to evolving technologies and maintaining security in data transmissions are also common aspects of the role. To thrive, strong organization, proactive communication, and a continuous learning mindset are essential for success in this dynamic environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Telemetry position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Remote Telemetry, you need a solid understanding of telemetry systems, data analysis, and remote monitoring, often requiring a background in engineering, IT, or healthcare. Job description

Space Systems Analyst (Data & Analytics Focus)

We are a rapidly growing, US-based space startup revolutionizing satellite imaging using advanced in-orbit capabilities. Specifically, our expertise lies in leveraging in-space assets for Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and Non-Earth Imaging (NEI). As an international company, we navigate a unique landscape while delivering critical services to our clients. Having recently secured several significant contracts, we are expanding our team to meet the exciting demands of our growth.

To support this next phase, we're building a high-performing, interdisciplinary team capable of pushing the boundaries of space technology. We're looking for talented, passionate people who value collaboration, growth, and learning to join us.

HEO is a post-Series A company backed by high-profile venture funds including Airtree, Y Combinator, and In-Q-Tel. We are headquartered in Sydney, Australia, with offices in London, UK, and Washington, D.C., USA.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an early-to-mid-career Space Systems Analyst with a strong data engineering and analytics mindset to turn raw in-orbit data into high-impact intelligence. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex orbital dynamics and data science, directly shaping how our customers visualize and understand behavior in orbit.

You will be responsible for the data-driven "full-stack" of SDA analysis: from processing raw telemetry and sensor data to building interactive visualization dashboards and generating automated pattern-of-life insights. The ideal candidate blends the rigorous mathematical framework of orbital dynamics with the practical software toolkit of a modern data analyst.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data-Driven Insight Generation: Process, clean, and model raw NEI and satellite telemetry data using Python and our in-house tools to extract consistent, high-quality technical insights.
  • Dashboarding & Visualization: Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards using tools like Grafana to provide real-time or mission-critical visual analytics for operations and client teams.
  • Analytics Pipeline Management: Develop and operationalize analytical pipelines to seamlessly transition ad-hoc research into automated operational assets.
  • Multi-source Data Fusion: Leverage Python and SQL to fuse NEI-derived insights with other information sources to develop novel insights on complex space objects.
  • Sensor-to-Target Modeling: Apply a foundational understanding of orbital mechanics to calculate sensor-to-target geometries and ideal imaging conditions.
  • International Collaboration: Coordinate with HEO's globally distributed team of engineers and specialists to standardize analytical methodologies, refine metrics, and enhance the customer platform.
  • Client Engagement: Work closely with US government and commercial customers to translate their mission needs into technical requirements.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 2-5+ years of professional experience in a data-centric engineering or analysis role, ideally supporting aerospace, remote sensing, defense, or intelligence applications.
  • Data & Tooling Proficiency: High proficiency in Python for data manipulation, statistical analysis, and Git version control within production repositories and libraries. Solid experience leveraging data visualization suites (e.g., Grafana) and advanced SQL querying.
  • Cloud Computing Experience: Experience with cloud computing platforms, with a strong preference for AWS.
  • Space Domain Focus: While a foundational understanding of orbital mechanics, relative orbital motion, coordinate systems, and satellite subsystems is a plus, we are highly enthusiastic about data professionals with a strong physics/math background who are eager to learn and master these concepts on the job.
  • Analytical Rigor: Strong critical thinking skills; you should be comfortable experimenting with new methodologies to solve "first-of-their-kind" space challenges.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal skills, specifically the ability to produce intelligence-grade writing or scientific reporting with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Physics, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Security Requirement:Must havethe ability to obtain ormaintainaUS government Top Secret security clearance.
Rewards & Benefits

We understand that a competitive offer extends beyond base salary. As a rapidly growing startup, we're committed to building a highly motivated team and believe in sharing our success. We offer a comprehensive total rewards package designed to attract and retain top talent:

  • Competitive Base Salary: We offer a strong base salary commensurate with your experience and the significant impact you'll have on our growth.
  • Employee Stock Option Plan (ESOP): As an early-stage employee, you'll receive a meaningful grant of employee stock options. This provides you with an ownership stake in our company and the opportunity to share directly in our future success. We believe in aligning your contributions with our collective growth, offering substantial upside potential as we achieve our ambitious milestones.
  • Company-sponsored 401(k): Matching contributions vested immediately.
  • Comprehensive Healthcare: Your well-being is a priority. We provide a robust employer-sponsored healthcare plan to ensure you and your family have access to quality medical care.
  • Generous Paid Time Off: We value work-life balance and offer annual Paid Time Off (PTO) plus additional dedicated sick days.
  • Paid Federal Holidays: Enjoy all federal holidays throughout the year, allowing you to recharge and spend time with loved ones.
What We Value:

You'll love being on our team if you are someone who:

  • Thrives in an ambiguous, semi-structured and dynamic environment.
  • Upholds the highest level of integrity.
  • Is proactive and takes initiative.
  • Isn't afraid to pitch in where the team needs you most.
  • Can be depended on to do what they say and uphold their end of the teamwork.
  • Is innovative, agile and flexible.
