Job Description

The Director of Business Process Improvement serves as a strategic advisor to the Vice President for Finance & Administration / Chief Financial Officer and functions as the Division's internal consultant for operational excellence. Leads institution-wide initiatives to evaluate, redesign, implement, and continuously improve administrative and operational processes across Finance & Administration. Develops process maps, SOPs, performance metrics, automated workflows, organizational assessments, and implementation plans while supporting change management, institutional effectiveness, compliance, financial stewardship, digital transformation, and strategic initiatives assigned by the VPFA/CFO. This is a remote position.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Business Process Assessment and Improvement: Conduct comprehensive reviews of business processes; identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, unnecessary approvals, risks, and automation opportunities; design future-state workflows and sustain operational excellence.
  • Organizational Consulting, Strategic Planning, and Project Leadership: Serve as the VPFA/CFO's internal consultant; conduct organizational assessments, facilitate strategic planning, benchmark peer institutions, lead cross-functional projects, and provide executive recommendations
  • Workflow Automation, Digital Transformation, and Technology Enablement: Collaborate with IT to implement workflow automation and enterprise solutions including Workday, AggieBuy, Laserfiche, DocuSign, Microsoft Power Platform, SharePoint, AI-enabled solutions, and other technologies.
  • Policies, Procedures, Documentation, and Training: Develop SOPs, process maps, policy documentation, desk manuals, training materials, and communication plans while maintaining a centralized repository.
  • Performance Measurement, Financial Stewardship, Compliance, and Institutional Effectiveness: Develop KPIs and dashboards; evaluate administrative costs and efficiencies; support audits, SACSCOC, IPEDS-related administrative processes, internal controls, and continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Initiatives and Other Duties: Lead high-priority projects assigned by the VPFA/CFO and represent the division on institutional committees.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management, Industrial Engineering, Organizational Leadership, Information Systems, or a related field and ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in business process improvement, organizational effectiveness, project management, higher education administration, or governmental administration.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree; experience in public higher education; Lean Six Sigma, PMP, or similar certification; experience with Workday, business analytics, organizational change management, and enterprise systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of operational excellence, business process improvement, Lean principles, project management, organizational development, financial operations, internal controls, and higher education administration. Ability to influence without direct authority, analyze complex operations, facilitate executive discussions, communicate effectively, manage multiple priorities, and lead organizational change.

Supervision Received:

Works under the general direction of the Vice President for Finance & Administration / Chief Financial Officer with broad latitude for independent judgment.

Supervision Exercised:

May supervise professional and administrative staff and provide functional leadership for cross-functional project teams.

Working Relationships:

Works collaboratively with vice presidents, deans, department heads, faculty, staff, the Texas A&M University System, consultants, and external partners.

Working Conditions:

Standard office environment with occasional travel between campus facilities and periodic work outside normal business hours. This position is fully remote.

Other Requirements:

Performs other duties and strategic initiatives assigned by the Vice President for Finance & Administration / Chief Financial Officer.

Salary: $80,000 - $100,000/annually
