Job description

Licensed Mental Health Therapist - Bilingual English/Spanish Strongly Preferred
Remote • Illinois License Required • Part-time or Full-time
Many of the families we serve want therapy in Spanish. We need clinicians who can show up for them.
Backpack Healthcare provides mental health care for children, teens, and young adults - all online, covered by most insurance. We're clinician-led and minority-owned, and we're growing fast across Illinois, particularly among Spanish-speaking families who've had too few options for too long.
If you're a bilingual therapist who believes culturally responsive care isn't a bonus feature but the whole point - we want to talk.
What this role looks like
You'll carry a caseload of 15-36 sessions per week (you choose part-time or full-time) providing individual, family, and group therapy via telehealth. Most of our clinicians work weekday afternoons and evenings (2-9 PM), with weekend availability a plus.
Day-to-day you'll:
  • Conduct intakes and build client-centered, trauma-informed treatment plans
  • Collaborate with our interdisciplinary team - therapists, PMHNPs, and psychiatrists working together
  • Maintain timely documentation in our EHR
  • Support families with education and care coordination, not just the child in the room

What we offer
  • $45-$65/billable hour, based on license level
  • Medical, dental, and vision (full-time)
  • 401(k) with 3% company match
  • Paid time off
  • $300 annual CEU reimbursement
  • Free clinical supervision for LMSW/LPC roles
  • $25,000 company-paid life insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Pathways to clinical leadership, including our Residency & Fellowship Program

What we're looking for
  • Active Illinois license: LPC, LCPC, LMSW, or LCSW
  • Experience with children, teens, and families
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote setting
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Grounded in trauma-informed, culturally responsive practice

Who we are
We've served 12,000+ kids and families since 2020. 78% of families report their child is doing better after three months of care. We're not perfect, but we're serious - about outcomes, about our clinicians, and about the communities we serve.
When clinicians thrive, kids thrive. That's not a tagline. It's how we build.
Backpack Healthcare is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity in age, background, identity, and experience - and we mean it.
