Job description

Introduction
If you have experience with DevOps, including supervising database administrators, DevOps engineers, technical consultants and software engineers we encourage you to apply for the DevOps Supervisor position at the Wisconsin Court System. The DevOps Supervisor oversees the development, deployment, and integration of software, ensuring smooth collaboration between development and operations teams; oversees the software development lifecycle focusing on reliability, speed, and security; manages software maintenance; and manages DevOps projects.
Individuals who have extensive experience with system monitoring, continuous integration/ continuous delivery (CI/CD), automation including automated software delivery, testing, automating infrastructure, and leading cross-functional teams are encouraged to apply. Candidates must be self-motivated and have a commitment to providing high-quality systems and services to the Wisconsin Court System.
Position Summary
LOCATION: Madison, WI, certain positions with this Department may allow remote work for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic may be discussed in the interview process.
SALARY: Starting salary will be $100,900 - $121,100 annually, with a State of Wisconsin benefits package.
Job Details
1) Manage DevOps systems and activities such as defining, refining and documenting DevOps best practices and standards. 2) Oversee the operation of, and improvements to, the CI/CD Pipeline including build, test, and deployment pipelines. 3) Oversee software maintenance, ensuring libraries are up-to-date, security issues are addressed, and system fixes are delivered in a timely manner. 4) Supervise DevOps engineers, database administrators, software engineers, and technical consultants in areas of expertise. 5) Oversee the identification and resolution of issues using performance metrics, monitoring, and logs to identify trends and potential issues. 6) Manage system optimization based on monitoring and analysis. 7) Develop incident response protocols, serve as an incident manager and perform lead on root cause analyses. 8) Manage the DevOps budget, including on-premise servers, cloud services and DevOps software. 9) Collaborate effectively with the CCAP Leadership team to establish and implement best practices for operations, project management, and customer service.
Qualifications
1) A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2) Experience in operations and project management. 3) Experience in a leadership position in an information technology environment. 4) Experience utilizing quality assurance methodologies in an IT environment. 5) Experience with monitoring and log systems. 6) Comprehensive knowledge of DevOps philosophies, practices, and tools. 7) Comprehensive knowledge of agile development methodologies. 8) Comprehensive knowledge of software security policies and procedures. 9) Good knowledge of software quality assurance processes. 10) Good knowledge of IT automation, code management, containerization, virtualization, and build tools. 11) Working knowledge of scripting tools. 12) Working knowledge of SQL database management and maintenance.
Preferred:
1) Experience with supervising teams of 5+ individuals. 2) Experience managing hybrid environments - on premise, AWS and Azure. 3) Experience with automated testing. 4) Experience with Prometheus and Grafana. 5) Good knowledge of Ansible, Gitlab, SBT & Cargo, Docker & Docker Compose, KVM & VMWare, and PostgreSQL. 6) Working knowledge of the business functions of Wisconsin Courts or similar industry. 7) License and/or certificate in Certified DevOps Engineer (AWS, Microsoft), Docker Certified Associate (DCA), ITIL.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1) Employment will require a criminal background check. 2) Must meet the minimum standards for driving a state vehicle. 3) Must be able to travel throughout the State of Wisconsin with occasional overnights. 4) The Wisconsin Court System does not sponsor work visas.
