What are remote technology jobs?

Remote technology jobs are positions in the tech industry that allow employees to work from locations outside of a traditional office, often from home or anywhere with an internet connection. These roles can include software development, IT support, cybersecurity, data analysis, and more. Remote tech jobs leverage digital tools and platforms to enable collaboration, communication, and project management across distributed teams. They offer flexibility, the ability to work with global teams, and access to a wider range of job opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a remote technology role?

To thrive in a remote technology role, you need strong technical expertise in your discipline (such as software development, IT support, or cybersecurity), typically supported by relevant degrees or certifications. Familiarity with collaboration tools (like Slack, Zoom, and Jira), version control systems, and cloud platforms is also essential. Excellent self-management, communication, and proactive problem-solving skills set standout remote tech professionals apart. These competencies are crucial for delivering results, maintaining productivity, and ensuring effective teamwork while working independently.

How do remote technology professionals typically stay connected and collaborate effectively with their teams?

Remote technology professionals often rely on a combination of collaboration tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom for real-time communication, along with project management platforms like Jira or Trello to track progress. Regular virtual meetings and daily stand-ups help ensure everyone is aligned on priorities and deliverables. Building strong written communication skills and being proactive in sharing updates are key to overcoming the challenges of remote work, such as time zone differences and reduced face-to-face interaction. Many organizations also foster a sense of community through virtual team-building activities and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Remote Network Technicians specialize in network infrastructure, requiring specific networking credentials. Both roles are commonly remote and serve similar industries, but their core responsibilities differ in scope and technical focus.

What remote technology jobs can be done remotely?

Remote technology jobs include roles such as software developers, IT support specialists, cybersecurity analysts, network administrators, and data analysts. These positions often require proficiency with collaboration tools, programming languages, and remote communication platforms, and they can be performed from virtually anywhere with a reliable internet connection.

Job description

Custom Learning Designs has partnered with Hueman to find a Technology Operations Specialist. This is a remote role with some travel involved.

The Technology Operations Specialist will work directly with our Technology Product Manager. You will help deliver the technology behind pharmaceutical live training events, client-facing products, and internal AI-powered tools.

This is a hands-on role with real client and stakeholder exposure from the start. You'll learn the operational side of our technology work while building the product sense, communication skills, and technical fluency to take on more over time. It's a strong fit if you're relentlessly organized, quick to pick up new software, curious about AI, and want to grow into tech operations and product management.

Custom Learning Designs (CLD) is a leading provider of custom training solutions for pharmaceutical and life sciences companies. At CLD, we support our customers in developing customized training for their commercial sales teams, medical teams (MSLs), patients, and physicians.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Own meeting logistics for live workshops: room layouts, Cvent diagramming, session timing, and team rotation schedules.
  • Configure and test our workshop technology suite for specific client engagements.
  • Run pre-event QA and dry runs of scoring systems, leaderboards, and participant-facing apps; document and escalate what breaks.
  • Provide onsite technical support at live events — setup, real-time monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Represent the technology department in internal status meetings.
  • Serve as primary tester for internal tools: execute test plans, log defects, verify fixes, and coordinate testing acorss the team.
  • Support internal tool rollouts with documentation, training materials, and process guides.
  • Run recurring data perparation and background processing tasks.
  • Build out the technology department's library of documented, repeatable processes.

Job Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years professional experience or a recent degree and relevant internship/project work.
  • Experience with project coordination, technical support, QA, event operations, or a related role.
  • Strong technical aptitude. You learn new software fast and are comfortable in spreadsheets, admin panels, and ticketing systems.
  • Willingness to travel for onsite event support, including occasional evenings and weekends around event dates.

At Custom Learning Designs, you'll work with top pharma companies, contribute to impactful training solutions, and grow in a collaborative and innovative environment. Apply now to be part of a mission-driven team shaping the future of pharma training.

Hueman is proud to partner with Custom Learning Designs as the exclusive recruitment partner for this role. If you are interested in learning more about a career with CLD as a Technology Operations Specialist, apply today!
