POSITION:                               Yield Control Technology Engineer II -- or --

                                                Senior Yield Control Technology Engineer (YCTE)

DIVISION:                                Metrology and Analysis Systems Division (MAD)

COMPANY:                             Hitachi High-Tech America, Inc. ("HTA")

LOCATION:                             Boise, ID

TRAVEL:                                  15-30% (domestically and internationally)

REMOTE WORK:                    Customer Remote (+50% Onsite)

Onsite - 80% / Remote - 20%

EXPECTED PAY RANGE:       121,673 - 167,301 annually (YCTE II)

                                                134,476 - 184,905 annually (Senior YCTE)


This pay range is for the position's base pay only.  This position may be eligible for other compensation including incentive pay and/or allowances.  Candidates will receive additional information during the interview and selection process.

Position Level:  The best fit candidate selected for this position will be offered a job title/level (Yield Control Technology Engineer II vs. Senior Yield Control Technology Engineer) that is most appropriate after evaluating the person's education, experience, training, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

POSITION SUMMARY


The Yield Control Technology Engineer II (YCTE) is responsible for the technical product support for CD-SEM sales activities.  The responsibilities include demonstration, applications, and customer training in CD-SEM tools and peripheral software.  The YCTE typically spends 5% of their time receiving on-the-job training and may travel as much as 50% to various customer sites in order to provide required support.  The YCTE will provide customer applications training in order to complete tool installation and acceptance tests.  Additionally, they will use considerable judgment and initiative independently. The YCTE will work on special projects to improve overall department efficiency and provide applications support through classroom training and/or phone support.  Generally, the YCTE requires minimal supervision and is very knowledgeable in the product lines.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technical product support for CD-SEM tools sales activities
  • Provide applications support for customers through recipe automation audits
  • Provide technical advice to the Marketing department for sales and trade shows
  • Development of training and demonstration materials
  • Review of training and demonstration materials for technical accuracy
  • Set and keep appropriate schedules for training on the assigned customer site
  • Provide highly detailed documentation for the purpose of customer and/or Field Service Engineer training
  • Ability to transfer technical knowledge to less experienced engineers through on-the-job training (OJT) or classroom training
  • Ability to work independently with no supervision
  • Ability to resolve complex problems successfully
  • Ability to use considerable judgment in resolving problems and making recommendations
  • Compiles and evaluates test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for system specifications
  • May apply quantitative analysis in determining root cause of technical problems and propose, and implement solutions for corrective action
  • Maintain appropriate records of all work and automation audits performed
  • Manage and maintain traveling inventory according to department policy, procedure, and/or practice
  • Protect and maintain company property (i.e., traveling inventory, company issued items, test equipment, tools, etc.)
  • Set and keep appropriate schedules for training on the assigned customer site
  • Create, update, and provide highly detailed documentation for the purpose of customer and/or internal training
  • Comply and adhere to company policies
  • Portray professionalism and pride in appearance while conforming to policy
  • Provide a positive attitude to all employees and customers
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, LICENSES, and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • BS degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) related fields or equivalent combination of education and semiconductor industry work experience
  • Must have and retain valid driver's license in resident state and be insurable

EXPERIENCE and TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • YCTE II:  Two (2) years of semiconductor industry work experience
  • Senior YCTE:  Six (6) years of semiconductor industry work experience
  • Hands-on experience with Hitachi CD-SEMs strongly preferred
  • YCTE II:  Travel on average of 15%
  • Senior YCTE:  Travel on average of 30%

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Physics and Chemistry
  • Ability to be approved for a company credit card
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Japanese a plus) with management, co-workers, and customers
  • Ability to use standard office equipment such as a computer, copy/scan/fax machine, cell phone, etc.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong work ethic
  • Ability to drive an automobile
  • Ability to quickly transport from location to location (i.e., air, car, etc.)
  • Ability to hear audible noises
  • Must comply with all corporate safety requirements and directives
  • Expected to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required
