What is a remote technology sales development representative?

A Remote Technology Sales Development Representative (SDR) is a professional who works from a remote location to identify and qualify potential customers for technology products or services. Their main responsibilities include researching leads, reaching out to prospects via email or phone, and setting up meetings for the sales team. They play a critical role in building the sales pipeline and helping companies grow their customer base. Because the role is remote, SDRs use digital communication tools and often collaborate virtually with their team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote technology sales development representative, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Technology Sales Development Representative, you need strong communication, lead generation, and prospecting skills, often supported by a bachelor's degree or relevant sales experience. Familiarity with CRM software (like Salesforce), sales engagement tools, and virtual meeting platforms is typically required. Outstanding self-motivation, resilience, and relationship-building abilities help you excel in a remote, target-driven environment. These competencies are vital for consistently building a strong sales pipeline and driving revenue growth in a competitive tech market.

What are some common challenges faced by remote technology sales development representatives, and how can they be overcome?

Remote Technology Sales Development Representatives often face challenges such as building rapport with prospects virtually, managing time effectively across different time zones, and maintaining motivation without in-person team support. Overcoming these challenges involves leveraging video conferencing tools to create personal connections, using structured schedules and CRM systems to stay organized, and participating in regular virtual team meetings for collaboration and support. Proactive communication and continuous learning about new sales techniques also help remote representatives succeed in this dynamic environment.

Job description

About the Role
We are seeking a competitive, driven, and highly motivated Sales Development Representative (SDR) to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a top-performing SDR who thrives on winning, enjoys the challenge of outbound prospecting, and is eager to take their career to the next level.
At its core, this role is responsible for generating qualified meetings and sales opportunities for our Account Executives. You will be the front line of our sales organization—responsible for opening doors, starting conversations, and booking high-quality meetings that convert into revenue.
This is more than just an SDR role—it's an opportunity to prove yourself, make an impact, and grow into a leadership position, with a clear path toward building and leading a team of SDRs as we scale.

Key Responsibilities
- Execute high-volume outbound prospecting efforts via calls, email, and social channels
- Identify, engage, and qualify prospective clients to generate new business opportunities
- Schedule and secure qualified meetings for Account Executives, ensuring strong alignment with ideal customer profiles
- Own the top-of-funnel pipeline by consistently delivering a steady flow of high-quality meetings
- Conduct initial discovery conversations to understand prospect needs, pain points, and buying intent
- Partner closely with Account Executives to ensure smooth handoff of meetings and context
- Track, manage, and optimize meeting conversion rates (set → held → qualified → closed)
- Maintain accurate records of activities and opportunities in CRM
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to refine messaging, targeting, and outreach strategies
- Continuously test, learn, and improve outreach strategies, scripts, and cadences
- Provide feedback on market trends, competitor activity, and customer insights
- Assist in developing SDR playbooks and processes as the team grows
- Step up as a leader—mentor future SDRs and help shape a high-performing team

Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a Sales Development Representative (SDR) or similar outbound sales role
- Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding quota, particularly in meeting-setting and pipeline generation
- Strong cold calling experience and comfort with high-volume outreach
- Experience selling into HR, Talent Acquisition, or People Operations teams is a strong plus
- Experience in background screening is a plus, but not required
- Competitive mindset with a strong desire to win and improve every day
- High energy, resilience, and a positive, “no-quit” attitude
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and objection-handling skills
- Highly organized with strong time management and prioritization abilities
- Self-starter mentality with a desire to grow into leadership
- Experience with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and sales engagement platforms

What Success Looks Like
- Consistently hitting or exceeding monthly and quarterly meeting-setting and pipeline targets
- Delivering a reliable flow of qualified meetings that convert into revenue opportunities
- Bringing energy, urgency, and accountability to daily activities
- Demonstrating leadership potential and influencing team performance
- Playing a key role in shaping and scaling the SDR function
- Earning the opportunity to step into a leadership role as the team grows

Why Join Data Facts, Inc.?
- Opportunity to make a direct impact in a growing organization
- Clear career progression into leadership
- Collaborative, high-performance, and competitive sales culture
- Flexibility to work remotely or from Memphis, TN
- Be part of a company with a strong reputation in the background screening industry
