  • Assess current-state systems, platforms, integrations, data flows, security controls, and operational constraints to identify technical risks, dependencies, and modernization opportunities.
  • Create reusable architecture artifacts, including reference models, integration patterns, data flow diagrams, interface patterns, architecture decision records, technical roadmaps, and implementation guidance.
  • Evaluate technology choices, integration approaches, migration strategies, and platform capabilities for scalability, reliability, interoperability, security, cost, and maintainability.
  • Support architecture reviews by preparing clear technical recommendations, design alternatives, risk assessments, and decision-ready materials for technical and program stakeholders.
  • Partner with engineering, cloud, data, security, and application teams to validate architecture feasibility, resolve technical constraints, and ensure designs can be implemented effectively.

What Makes You Great

  • Positive attitude (required)
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Proven ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with both technical and non-technical team members
  • Attentive to detail with a focus on accurate results
  • Strong customer orientation

  • 10+ years of experience as a solution, technical, or enterprise architect for complex, multi-system environments.
  • 5+ years serving as a lead or principal architect on large enterprise-scale modernization programs.
  • Prior experience supporting CMS is required.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI) and hybrid architectures that integrate on-premises and cloud services.
  • Experience working with agile delivery teams to translate architecture into implementable epics, features, technical backlog items, and delivery sequencing.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to program and mission stakeholders.

What You’ve Done

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Data Engineering, Cybersecurity, Technology Management, or a related field.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Professional, or comparable architecture certification.
  • Experience guiding modernization involving legacy or mainframe systems, large-scale data migration, platform rationalization, and/or consolidation of enterprise infrastructure.
  • Experience with large-scale health data, claims, enrollment, beneficiary systems, and standards such as HL7, FHIR, or X12 EDI.

What You Have to Have
