Position Summary
We are seeking a Technical Writer to support our Product Development Engineering and Application Engineering teams. This role partners closely with engineering and product management to produce clear, accurate, and customer-facing technical documentation across our portfolio of electrical power, electrical safety, and electronics products. The ideal candidate combines strong technical comprehension with excellent writing skills and a drive to continuously improve how documentation gets created - including adopting new tools and workflows to increase efficiency and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain datasheets, product manuals, user guides, installation instructions, white papers, and other customer-facing technical content.
  • Collaborate directly with product development engineers and application engineers to translate technical designs, specifications, and functionality into clear documentation for end users, distributors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Work with product management to align documentation with product positioning, release timelines, and customer needs.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and test data accurately in written materials.
  • Maintain document version control, templates, and style consistency across the documentation portfolio.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) processes by delivering documentation on schedule alongside engineering milestones.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline the documentation process - evaluating and implementing new authoring tools, templates, automation, or AI-assisted workflows to reduce cycle time and improve document quality.
  • Review and edit technical content produced by engineers for clarity, accuracy, and consistency with company style standards.
  • Manage documentation within a document control system, following established numbering and revision conventions.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of technical writing experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience writing documentation for products in at least one of the following domains (required):
    • Electrical power systems
    • Electrical safety products (e.g., protective relays, monitoring devices)
    • Electronics systems
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineers and product managers to gather and clarify technical information.
  • Strong command of technical writing fundamentals: clarity, structure, audience awareness, and consistency.
  • Self-motivated, with a track record of proactively identifying and implementing process or tooling improvements to increase documentation productivity.
  • Proficiency with standard documentation and publishing tools (e.g., Microsoft Office/365, Adobe FrameMaker or similar, PDF authoring tools).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted authoring, content generation, or workflow automation tools (e.g., generative AI writing assistants, Power Automate) to improve documentation throughput.
  • Prior experience supporting NPI (New Product Introduction) processes in a hardware or embedded systems environment.
