Job description

The Opportunity:

Data Architects are responsible for designing data and information systems to support the organization's growing needs. Defines and communicates a shared technical and architectural vision to help ensure solutions meet the strategic needs of the company.

Day in the Life:

  • Serves as technical lead to strategic and enterprise level data driven projects, collaborates with other architecture areas and the wider organization.
  • Follows and advises on industry standards and advances on data driven technologies and tools.
  • Designs, implements, and updates best practices for the data development team.
  • Represents project level data concerns to the enterprise board.
  • Collaborates to mature data development standards and practices
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to architectural review board and technology review committee.
  • Creates architectural artifacts along the project lifecycle to document technical requirements and vision
  • Works with members of the product team to assess needs and determine the underlying issue that needs to be solved
  • Must be able to collaborate with product to define requirements and translate into epics and features.
  • Must be able to communicate technical content to a non-technical person
  • Must lead projects across scrum teams offering architectural direction to those teams.  Exposes project and solution related architectural issues to the wider architecture team.
  • Analyzes system requirements and ensures that systems will offer secure solutions and will be effectively integrated with current applications
  • Capable of defining the correct strategy maturity to deliver right sized solutions that are value oriented around business needs
  • Creates enterprise level end-to-end data flow diagrams.
  • Creates data consolidation and migration plans.
  • Creates conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Designs ETL/ELT patterns for analytics and reporting systems.
  • Reviews complex Azure Data Factory pipelines for various reporting and data development projects.
  • Designs solutions for data lake, data lakehouse, data warehouses, and similar cloud data architectures.
  • Creates and maintains documentation related to data development best practices, enterprise level data flow diagrams, and project code promotion.
  • Provides recommendations to technology tools, products and services to help keep our environment on the cutting edge of technology.
  • Ensure compliance with established SDLC (System Development Lifecycle) frameworks, including requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, testing & deployment.
  • Ensure compliance with established Agile model (Scrum or Kanban, as applicable).
  • Ensure compliance with all the audit requirements of the company.
  • Perform duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in CIS, Data Science, Data Analytics or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Seven (7) years of working in a data function or equivalent position where primary responsibility is working with data, database design, and data development is the primary responsibility.
  • Best practices for encryption, tokenization, data development, and access control within a PCI (Payment Card Industry) environment.
  • Ability to analyze enterprise level data sources and determine relationships between disparate sources. 
  • Determine methodologies for integration with third-party data sets. 
  • Expertise in data warehousing and data modeling methodologies, tools and best practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats and give presentations utilizing various audiovisual support aids
  • Expertise in data warehousing and data modeling methodologies, tools and best practices. 
  • Financial industry knowledge. 
  • Agile methodologies. 
  • Expert knowledge of data catalogs, master data management (MDM and ETL/ELT design.  
  • Snowflake or SQL Server development experience is a plus.
  • Databricks experience is a plus
  • Ability to plan, track and control projects in a fast-paced environment, while managing multiple priorities/projects and meeting deadlines
  • Thorough understanding of card payment industry, various processing systems, and/or related in-house applications is a plus
  • Ability to travel as needed

For California, Colorado and New York Applicants:  In accordance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary range for this position is between:

$110,100.00 - $143,100.00

Actual Pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
