Remote Teaching involves delivering structured lessons to larger groups or classes, often within formal educational settings, requiring teaching credentials. Remote Tutoring focuses on personalized instruction for individuals or small groups, emphasizing subject expertise. Both roles are performed online but differ in scope, environment, and credentials required.

What is remote teaching?

Remote teaching is the practice of delivering educational instruction to students through online platforms and digital tools, rather than in a traditional in-person classroom setting. In remote teaching, educators use video conferencing, online assignments, discussion boards, and other virtual resources to engage with students and facilitate learning. This approach allows for flexibility in where and when students access lessons, making education more accessible to a wider audience. Remote teaching can be used for all grade levels and subjects, and has become increasingly popular due to advancements in technology and the need for distance learning solutions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote teacher, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Teacher, you need strong subject expertise, a teaching credential, and experience in curriculum development and online instruction. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) like Google Classroom, Zoom, and digital assessment tools is essential. Excellent communication, adaptability, and time management skills help engage students and manage virtual classrooms effectively. These competencies ensure that educators can deliver high-quality, interactive education and support student success in a remote environment.

What are some common challenges remote teachers face, and how can they effectively overcome them?

Remote teachers often encounter challenges such as maintaining student engagement, managing diverse technology proficiency levels, and ensuring clear communication across virtual platforms. To overcome these, it's important to incorporate interactive activities, leverage user-friendly digital tools, and establish consistent communication routines. Building a supportive online classroom community and offering flexible office hours can also help address individual student needs and foster a positive learning environment.

Job description

Who This Role Is For

You're a fully licensed clinician in the Tacoma area - LMFT, LMHC, or LICSW - who wants a high-paying part-time telehealth caseload without the overhead of private practice. Maybe you're already working full-time and want to supplement your income. Maybe you want to scale back and build something more flexible. Either way, this role is designed to work around you.

What Makes This Different

  • $75-115/hr based on session type and caseload - strong compensation with zero overhead
  • Guaranteed pay for no-shows and late cancellations
  • 1099 independent contractor - work on your own terms with the tax flexibility of self-employment
  • Fully remote - work from Tacoma or anywhere in Washington
  • Set your own schedule - evenings, weekends, or whenever works for you
  • No billing, no credentialing, no admin - we handle everything

The Work

You'll provide evidence-based teletherapy to K-12 students across Washington, collaborating with school counselors and families statewide. Case consultations and clinical team discussions are a regular part of the role.

What Our Clinicians Are Saying

"As we learn, we're teaching each other. A lot of the interventions that I've used are things I've learned from other clinicians. I really love the clinical collaboration."

"I absolutely love working with my young clients. They are so real, honest, and...hilarious! They're the ones inspiring me!"

What You Need

  • Active LMFT, LMHC, or LICSW in Washington (required - we cannot hire other license types at this time)
  • Experience or strong interest in youth and family-focused care
  • Comfortable with telehealth and EHR systems
  • Availability during afternoon/evening hours

Preferred

  • CBT, DBT, or similar evidence-based modality experience
  • School-based or pediatric clinical background
  • Active NPI and CAQH
  • Bilingual Spanish/English fluency
