Work EnvironmentThis position allows for the flexibility of remote work, while also requiring occasional site visits to local school facilities. You'll be interfacing directly with students, educators, and families, making your presence vital in promoting social-emotional learning and providing crisis intervention where needed. Regular business hours are observed, although some evening and weekend flexibility may be necessary based on student needs and scheduled appointments.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments through interviews, observations, and collaboration with educational staff to identify students' emotional, social, and environmental challenges impacting their academic performance and mental health.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions designed to assist students in navigating adjustment issues, peer relationship challenges, and emotional distress.
- Develop and implement tailored treatment plans in collaboration with the school’s interdisciplinary team, including teachers, psychologists, and administrative staff.
- Facilitate access to community resources such as support groups, mental health services, and educational programs, ensuring students and families receive appropriate support.
- Engage in routine attendance of team meetings to offer insights on student progress and adjust treatment strategies as necessary.
- Contribute to discharge planning and recommend follow-up care, ensuring smooth transitions for students returning to the classroom environment.
You will work primarily with a diverse population of students, ranging from elementary to high school age, each facing unique challenges. These may include mental health disorders, learning disabilities, emotional disturbances, and social adjustment issues. Your role is pivotal in identifying students who may be struggling, and you will use your expertise to develop effective intervention strategies that promote resilience and academic success.
Qualifications- A Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
- Active licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Illinois.
- A deep understanding of the psychological needs of children and adolescents, particularly in relation to school-related issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and school staff.
- Experience providing mental health services in a school-based or other educational settings is highly desirable.
- Background in working with trauma-informed care practices.
- Familiarity with crisis intervention techniques and conflict resolution services.
The salary for this position is competitive, ranging from USD 75,000 to 100,000 annually, commensurate with experience, plus a sign-on bonus for the right candidate.
