What do remote teachers do?

Remote teachers have similar job duties as a classroom teacher--they instruct students in one or a variety of subjects, depending on their specialty. Specific job duties vary, depending on the grade they teach and the type of school or organization they work for. But the general responsibilities for remote teachers include developing lesson plans that engage students and help them to understand and retain important information, assign and correct homework, and give tests. Because remote teachers provide instruction through live streaming or website portals, many focus on a particular course or subject at a time, though they are able to teach different subjects at different times. For example, a work from home math teacher may teach a virtual course on geometry in the morning but teach algebra in an afternoon session.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote teacher, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Teacher, you need strong subject knowledge, teaching credentials, and experience with online pedagogy. Familiarity with virtual classroom platforms (like Zoom, Google Classroom), learning management systems, and digital content creation tools is essential. Outstanding communication, adaptability, and time management skills help foster student engagement and manage diverse learning needs remotely. These skills ensure effective instruction, student success, and smooth classroom operations in a virtual environment.

What are some common challenges faced by remote teachers, and how can they be managed effectively?

Remote teachers often encounter challenges such as keeping students engaged in a virtual setting, managing different time zones, and ensuring clear communication without in-person cues. To address these, it's important to incorporate interactive activities, utilize diverse digital tools, and establish clear expectations for participation. Regular check-ins and open communication channels with students and parents can also help foster a supportive learning environment, promoting both academic success and student well-being.

Description

Who we are: Advanced Radiology Services is one of the largest 100% physician-owned radiology practices in the country. Our practice includes 175radiologists, 30 advanced practice providers, and more than 175 employees providing administrative support in our wholly owned subsidiary STARS. We value diversity on our team and promote a culture of inclusion.ย

What we do: ARS provides services to more than 60 different sites across the state of Michigan. ARS is the exclusive radiology provider to West Michigan's largest Level I trauma center and research hospital, Corewell Health. ย American College of Radiology has designated Corewell a Diagnostic Center for Excellence. As a Joint Commission-accredited and certified Comprehensive Stroke Center and leading provider of comprehensive stroke care, Corewell Health is committed to fostering better outcomes for stroke patients.ย

What we are looking for: We are seeking a remote Neuroradiologist to cover overnights. The schedule would be 10p to 7a EST working 7 on and 14 off. This is ideal for someone living in the Pacific Time zone or Hawaii. This is a partnership track position with full compensation and benefits.ย

Responsibilities:

  • Brain, head and neck, and spine imaging with a full complement of advanced neuroimagingย
  • Majority of time on interpretation of ED and Inpatient neuroradiology examinationsย

Why do you want to do telerad for us? Although we are based in Michigan, we have a well-established teleradiology practice. ย We had remote physicians prior to COVID and currently have physicians working in 14 states. ย We utilize Intelerad PACS, PowerScribe 360 and InteleOrchestrator; we have outstanding IT infrastructure and 24/7 help desk support. Our remote radiologists are encouraged to participate in virtual section, committee and board meetings and their input is essential to our practice decisions. You will have outstanding colleagues working virtually by your side as we have dedicated body, cardiothoracic, ER, neuro, pediatric, musculoskeletal, and ultrasound readers on first and second shifts and body, ER, neuro, and pediatric readers on third shift.

Compensation/Benefits: We are offering a newly approved 75K recruitment incentive (sign on bonus) for remote readers, competitive compensation plan, stipends for on-site shifts, and opportunities for additional shifts on a month to month basis. Our physicians pay $0 for single or family medical/dental/vision coverage and enjoy an $18,000 medical reimbursement account annually. ย We also contribute the maximum amount allowed to the 401K plan ($72,000 in 2026). ย We have a brand new 6-week paid parental leave benefit!

Why is our practice unique? ARS is a 100% physician owned and managed practice. ย We are committed to remaining independent. ย We are looking for entrepreneurial minded physicians who value involvement in decision making and developing our business strategy. Participation in section, committee and board meetings is not required but welcomed from day one for on-site and virtual employees. While we are an independent private practice, some of our physicians practice with an academic focus. In affiliation with Michigan State University College of Medicine, our radiologists have opportunities to teach and mentor residents and pursue research if desired. Due to the size and breadth of the healthcare systems we support, diagnostic volume and variety of clinical exposure is unrivaled. ย

  • Fellowship in Neuroradiology and CAQ in Neuroradiology is required (or CAQ eligibility)
