POSITION SUMMARY

The Transactional Systems Engineer is responsible for the administration, configuration, optimization, and ongoing support of the organization's core healthcare transactional systems. This role serves as the primary technical and business liaison for Cedar Gate's EZ Suite, including EZCap, EZEDI, EZCare, and related applications, ensuring the platforms effectively support business operations, regulatory requirements, and organizational growth.

This individual partners closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors to implement software releases, hotfixes, system enhancements, and production support activities. The Transactional Systems Engineer is responsible for driving continuous improvement of business workflows, system configuration, automation, and operational efficiencies while ensuring platform stability, performance, and user satisfaction. This position reports to the VP of IT.

RESPONSIBILITIES - DUTIES

  • Serve as the primary technical and functional owner of Cedar Gate's EZ Suite (EZCap, EZEDI, EZCare, and related applications), ensuring platform stability, performance, and operational excellence.
  • Lead application lifecycle management, including application and environment readiness, database maintenance coordination, software upgrades, cumulative releases, hotfixes, patches, production deployments, testing, and validation.
  • Configure and optimize system workflows, business rules, and application functionality to support evolving business operations, regulatory requirements, and organizational growth.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to analyze processes, gather requirements, recommend scalable solutions, and drive continuous improvement through automation and operational efficiencies.
  • Manage the relationship with Cedar Gate, including support cases, issue resolution, root cause analysis, escalations, and coordination of vendor-delivered enhancements.
  • Support integrations between the EZ Suite and enterprise applications, including EDI transactions, APIs, reporting platforms, and healthcare interoperability solutions.
  • Monitor application health, troubleshoot production issues, maintain system documentation and standards, and ensure compliance with change management, HIPAA, security, and IT governance requirements.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for healthcare operational workflows—including eligibility, claims, authorizations, provider management, and care management—while providing technical guidance and production support to business and IT teams.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise healthcare applications, transactional systems, or business-critical healthcare platforms.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience administering Cedar Gate EZCap or a comparable healthcare administration platform required.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare operations within an HMO, MSO, IPA, Medical Group, or Health Plan environment, including claims, eligibility, authorizations, provider management, care management, and ANSI X12 transactions.
  • Experience managing application configurations, vendor software releases, hotfixes, cumulative updates, testing, and production deployments.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, APIs, system integrations, reporting platforms, and healthcare interoperability standards preferred.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and process improvement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across business, IT, and vendor teams.
  • Experience working within structured change management, release management, and IT governance processes.
  • Work authorization for the United States required.
