Vimly is growing, and our infrastructure has to keep pace. As the System Administrator, you will own the day-to-day health of a hybrid environment that spans on-premises virtualization, Microsoft 365 and AWS cloud services, and a modern identity and device management stack. This is not a training role: we need an experienced administrator who can take ownership from day one, prioritize competing demands, and drive issues to resolution with minimal oversight.

You will report to the Sr. Director of IT Infrastructure and participate in the weekly IT on-call rotation. System patching is performed once a month on a Sunday.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, oversee, and maintain the server and storage infrastructure; ensure the integrity and reliable function of the organization's critical data and systems.
  • Administer the Hyper-V virtualization environment, including virtual networks, hypervisor hardware configuration and updates, Microsoft Remote Application, and VDI.
  • Maintain OS updates and hardware firmware across production and development back-end servers.
  • Perform Telecommunication platform maintenance, including queue configuration, DID assignment, and user provisioning and de-provisioning; administer the Mobile Device program.
  • Administer the Microsoft 365 tenant, including user lifecycle, licensing, and security configuration.
  • Administer AWS services, including EC2 instances and VPC networking,KB8, etc. in line with Vimly's security and cost standards.
  • Manage identity and access through Okta, including Okta Device Management.
  • Administer Intune and JAMF MDM for the Windows and Mac endpoint fleets.
  • Maintain the IT asset lifecycle and inventory in SnipeIT.
  • Administer backups with Veeam, ExaGrid, and Wasabi cloud storage targets, and validate recoverability through regular restore testing.
  • Maintain and tune Zabbix monitoring; respond to alerts and act before small issues become outages.
  • Build and maintain Ansible playbooks to automate configuration management and routine maintenance.
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain patch management systems to ensure network and systems integrity, including patching of production and development servers once a month on a Sunday.
  • Maintain the security of Vimly's information systems through implementation of virus prevention/detection/cleaning and security procedures; monitor event logs and alerts; provide input on changes to policies and procedures in these areas.
  • Administer SFTP services supporting secure carrier and partner data exchange; handle protected health information in accordance with HIPAA and Vimly security policies.
  • Provide second-level technical support and troubleshooting to employees and workgroups for hardware and software; serve as an escalation point for the Help Desk.
  • Provide consultation and training on technology use and computer applications to Vimly's employees and departments.
  • Provide documentation, project tracking, and management reporting; evaluate, recommend, and implement changes to current and future system requirements to meet the organization's needs.
  • Adhere to Vimly's core values, code of conduct, and all policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a high degree of professionalism, and support Vimly's customer service standards.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in computer engineering or related field. Equivalent work experience in information technology, minimum of three (3) years, accepted in place of Bachelors.
  • 3+ years of hands-on system administration experience with the technologies mentioned throughout the above job description, including Windows Server, Hyper-V, Microsoft 365, and enterprise backup, monitoring, and MDM platforms.
  • Working knowledge of AWS services, including EC2 and VPCs; experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools a plus.
  • Proven track record working independently with little day-to-day direction, including prioritizing competing requests and driving issues to resolution.
  • Experience with planning and implementation of complex projects which should demonstrate creativity, sound judgment, and a command of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of security and compliance practices; familiarity with HIPAA strongly preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA Security+, Okta) a plus.
  • Able to participate in the weekly IT on-call rotation and perform monthly system patching on a Sunday.

What Will Help You Excel

  • You take ownership of issues and follow through until they are resolved.
  • You are comfortable making decisions independently while knowing when to escalate or ask for input.
  • You communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • You provide patient, professional, and helpful support to employees across the organization.
  • You manage competing priorities effectively, including system maintenance, alerts, support needs, and project work.
  • You value security, confidentiality, documentation, and reliable system performance.
  • You are open to feedback, committed to learning, and willing to share knowledge with others.
  • You work collaboratively and contribute to a positive, solutions-focused team environment.
  • You are aligned with Vimly’s core values, fundamentals, and strategic goals.
