The team at THD Design Group provides Engineering Design, Land Surveying and Construction Management for both the public and private sectors. Our expertise, combined with state-of-the-art technology, provides each project with increased efficiency and accuracy. We provide expertise and technology necessary to execute a project from preliminary design, mapping and ultimately to the final design stage when the project is ready for bid and construction. Then, we provide construction support through plan clarification and contractor and field surveyor coordination.

Our Surveying/Engineering staff has provided economical and efficient surveys/designs for numerous projects, boundary/topographic surveys, ranging from single family residential, large commercial and industrial developments and municipal projects.

THD Design group is looking for a Survey Crew Chief.

We are seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief for field operations primarily for ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys across the southern United States. This is a travel-intensive role ideal for someone who thrives in the field, enjoys working across diverse geographies, and takes pride in delivering high-quality, precise survey data. This role will include travel across Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.

You will serve as the on-site expert ensuring projects are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead and manage the ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
  • Plan, organize, and execute field survey operations across multiple states
  • Operate and maintain survey equipment (GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors, etc.)
  • Interpret project requirements, plats, deeds, and legal descriptions
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of field data collection
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, office staff, and clients as needed
  • Maintain daily field notes, reports, and documentation
  • Travel extensively (multi-state travel required, often weekly)

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief
  • Strong experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
  • Proficiency with modern survey equipment and software
  • Ability to read and interpret survey plans, title commitments, and legal documents
  • Strong leadership and crew management skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently (up to 75–100%)
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • CST certification or equivalent a plus
  • Experience working across multiple states or regions a plus
  • Knowledge of state-specific survey requirements in TX, LA, OK, AR, MS, and AL a plus
