Department: Merchandising

Reports To: Director of Merchandising

Hours Required: Full-time, Exempt

Travel Required: Up to 10% (industry trade shows and vendor/buying trips)

Location: Hybrid or Remote*

*California, Oregon and Utah residents only.

Compensation:           $70,000 - $80,000 Bonus eligible up to 10%.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Own and drive product, pricing, promotions, marketing, and inventory strategy across the accessories and camp categories, spanning multiple brands.
  • Own the open-to-buy budget for the accessories and camp categories, balancing inventory investment against sales, margin, and turn targets.
  • Monitor and drive category performance against key metrics, including margin, sell-through, GMROI, in-stock rate, and aged inventory/markdown exposure.
  • Partner with vendors across multiple brands to negotiate MAP/pricing agreements, co-op marketing funds, rebates, and payment/dating terms, and to improve processes within the supply chain.
  • Identify emerging and declining market trends and the associated risks for the accessories and camp categories.
  • Balance national brand and private-label/exclusive assortment mix to optimize competitive positioning within the category.
  • Develop long-term product planning and inventory commitments for key vendors and negotiate pricing terms.
  • Research and recommend growth opportunities in existing or new categories, and provide relevant pricing analysis.
  • Partner with marketing and cross-functional teams on product launch calendars, photography/content coordination, catalog/site merchandising, and other strategies to drive sales across accessories and camp.
  • Drive and/or support company priority initiatives.
  • Travel to industry trade shows and vendor/buying trips as needed, up to approximately 10%.
  • Other special assignments as the business requires.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises a small team supporting the accessories and camp categories.
  • Recruits, hires, onboards, and trains direct reports in accordance with company policy.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and provides ongoing coaching, feedback, and development.
  • Manages workload distribution, scheduling, and day-to-day performance of the team.
  • Addresses performance concerns and administers corrective action as needed, in partnership with Human Resources.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a retail or multibrand merchandising environment. Relevant experience may be substituted for required education.
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring direct reports preferred.
  • Knowledge of cycling, camp, or outdoor gear categories preferred.
  • Previous experience and skill in vendor negotiation.
  • Execution-driven, growth-oriented, ownership mindset to drive performance against KPIs.
  • Ability to effectively manage cross-functional coordination.
  • Demonstrated project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with an ERP system and excellent capability using the Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

This position primarily operates in a professional office, home office, or hybrid environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
