Proposal Engineer / Product Specialist

PDM | Remote (U.S.) | Full-Time |

About PDM

Power and Data Management (PDM) is one of the fastest-growing manufacturers in the electrical power industry, delivering industrial-grade transformers and circuit breakers with industry-leading lead times. While competitors average 12+ months on transformers and 3+ years on breakers, PDM delivers transformers in 9 weeks and circuit breakers in 5 to 6 months. With exclusive supplier relationships, a U.S.-based assembly plant in Salt Lake City, UT, and over 6GW of power transformers delivered, PDM is disrupting the utility-grade equipment supply chain for data centers, utilities, and enterprise customers. Atlanta or Georgia-based candidates are a plus.

About the Role

PDM is seeking a Proposal Engineer / Product Specialist to serve as a skilled technical communicator bridging front-end sales, engineering, and manufacturing. In this role you will create detailed customer proposals based on requests for quote (RFQs) and technical specifications, and support the full order lifecycle from quote to shipment. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded professional looking to grow with a dynamic, fast-moving company at the intersection of engineering and business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create multiple customer proposals daily based on RFQs, specifications, one-lines, and supporting documentation

  • Perform detailed specification reviews to identify customer requirements, product fit, required features and accessories, lead times, exceptions, alternates, and submittal requirements

  • Process orders from customer-accepted proposals, verify POs against proposals, and resolve discrepancies

  • Assemble documentation packages for factory design engineering and communicate special requirements to affected departments

  • Process customer change orders against open sales orders using the change, hold, and cancellation process

  • Approve and negotiate pricing per established guidelines, competitive feedback, and market knowledge

  • Provide product and application technical support for customers, agents, and internal departments

  • Act as liaison between engineering, marketing, scheduling, and customers

  • Support continuous improvement using lean tools and contribute to ISO work instruction development

  • Participate in customer visits to the Salt Lake City, UT assembly plant and customer or agent sites as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • 2+ years of experience in product, customer service, inside sales, or proposals in a technical environment (preferred)

  • 1+ year of experience using ERP and quotation systems; familiarity with SAP or similar is a plus

  • Knowledge of electric power distribution transformers, components, accessories, and applicable standards (ANSI, IEEE, IEC, CSA, NEMA)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Windows-based applications

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship now or in the future

  • No relocation assistance provided

Why PDM

  • Competitive salary based on skills, experience, and qualifications

  • PDM covers 100% of health, vision, and dental insurance premiums for all employees

  • 401(k) with 5% company match, short-term disability coverage, and life insurance

  • Exposure to C-level leadership, enterprise customers, and strategic supplier partnerships

  • Grow with a fast-moving company disrupting the utility-grade transformer and circuit breaker supply chain

  • Work across the full product lifecycle from front-end sales and proposals through manufacturing and delivery
