Davies Claims North America is seeking an experienced Claims Supervisor to lead a team of Liability Claims Adjusters and Claims Assistants. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality claim handling, regulatory compliance, client satisfaction, and employee development while maintaining operational excellence across assigned accounts.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical liability claims expertise, proven leadership skills, and the ability to mentor and develop claims professionals while fostering a collaborative, customer-focused culture. Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, coach, and develop Liability Claims Adjusters and Claims Assistants.
  • Provide technical guidance and ongoing claim direction to team members.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring new employees.
  • Design and implement development plans to improve employee performance and technical skills.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and participate in leadership meetings.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and evaluating candidates for open positions.
  • Handle employee concerns, performance issues, and workplace conflicts in partnership with leadership.
  • Perform initial reviews of new loss notices to identify coverage concerns, liability exposures, red flags, and recovery opportunities.
  • Assign claims and provide handling instructions to adjusting staff.
  • Ensure claims are managed in accordance with client requirements, company standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide guidance on:
    • Liability evaluations
    • Coverage analysis

    • Subrogation and excess recovery
    • Reserve adequacy

  • Monitor claim closure performance and service-level expectations.
  • Ensure timely responses to legal documents and litigation developments.
  • Ensure timely excess carrier reporting and reimbursement recovery activities.
  • Maintain regular communication with assigned clients and account stakeholders.
  • Participate in claim reviews, stewardship meetings, and client presentations.
  • Address client concerns and identify opportunities to improve service delivery.
  • Ensure claim handling aligns with client-specific instructions and expectations.
  • Maintain documentation of client interactions and account activity.
  • Conduct periodic claim file audits to ensure quality standards and compliance.
  • Monitor claim handling accuracy, documentation quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure adjusters maintain required licensing and continuing education requirements.
  • Identify trends and collaborate with leadership on process improvement initiatives.
  • Escalate significant claim, personnel, or client concerns to management.
  • Coordinate workload distribution and coverage during vacations and extended employee absences.
  • Assist with staffing and resource planning.
  • Support claims managers and executive leadership with special projects and operational initiatives.
  • Research and resolve claim administration issues, including no-record mail and claim workflow concerns.

Skills, knowledge & expertise
  • 5+ years of liability claims handling experience required.
  • Prior supervisory, team lead, or mentoring experience strongly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of liability claims, coverage analysis, recovery opportunities, litigation management, and claim resolution strategies.
  • Strong understanding of liability laws, regulations, procedures, and applicable case law.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and its application to liability claims.
  • Experience reviewing reserves and managing claim performance metrics.
  • Excellent coaching, leadership, and employee development skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong client relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience working within claims management systems and document management platforms.
