ABOUT THE JOB:

Reporting to the Director Design Services, the Structural Engineer is responsible for structural design supporting Construction Services, and Operations teams and development of future modular building solutions that are specific to unique markets and project applications. 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design of site specific foundation systems for commercial modular buildings.
  • Preparation of construction documents, calculations and studies of structural systems as needed for projects.
  • Design of structural components of modular buildings.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications ( Skills, Abilities, and Experience Required )

  • Non-Licensed Engineer with a minimum of 4 years of engineering production experience capable of obtaining PE license within 1 year or Licensed Professional Engineer with minimum of 5 years of engineering production experience 
  • Able to obtain multi state licenses through reciprocity
  • Preferred industries include commercial construction working for an A/E firm, GC or CM.  
  • Experienced in the design of wood framing as well as steel framing systems for commercial construction.
  • Experienced in the design of wood and concrete floor systems.  
  • Expertise and working knowledge of International Codes -ICC, AISC, and ACI.
  • Good computer skills including mastery of key software programs used daily to produce and communicate designs.  CAD, including: Revit and/or 3-D design software. MS Office Suite Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint
  • Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment on multiple projects
  • Must be a team builder and capable of working with non-technical team members. 
  • Previous experience with modular and off-site construction is preferred but not essential.


Education:

  • BS in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis, or BS Architectural Engineering.


Other Requirements:

  • Computer work 100% of the time.
  • Sitting 100% of time for computer work and file organization.
  • Position can be remote after a trial period (3-6 months) after familiarity with branch activities, modular construction and other business activities defined by the hiring manager.

Travel:

  • Occasional as required to manufacturing location(s), branch offices, customer sites for information collection, installation review, or training and development.
