We are seeking a Structural Engineer within our Private Sector Group (Industrial) to support our vision of becoming the best water consulting firm. 

  • Plans, monitors and manages structural engineering scope, schedule and budget for successful project completion
  • Performs quality management reviews of structural designs by others and works with designer to understand and resolve issues arising from the review
  • Prepares estimates for cost and schedule of structural engineering services for design and construction
  • Production of Contract Documents for construction of structures, including plans and specifications
  • Conducts on-site investigations and evaluations of existing structures, including the preparation of reports
  • Works with other project team members to understand and integrate their requirements into the structural design
  • Coordinates details of design between various project design disciplines
  • Mentors and trains staff and entry-level structural engineers
  • Assists and coaches CADD technicians in developing presentations of structural designs
  • Prepares and reviews opinions of construction costs for structural portion of projects
  • Assists field staff in resolving issues and questions during construction
  • Assists in continuing development and improvement of structural design standards, specifications, and typical details
  • Develops project-specific designs, standards, specifications and details for unusual or unique situations
  • Travel required when requested
  • Makes site visits to observe during construction and operation

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with Structural Emphasis
  • 6-12 years of experience, preferably in the design of water and wastewater treatment structures
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer
  • Expert in the application of building codes and code-referenced standards for design of water treatment and industrial structures in concrete, steel, and reinforced masonry
  • Highly motivated self-starter with demonstrated experience working with minimum supervision to determine and complete structural engineering tasks while acting as part of a multi-disciplinary project team
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of specifications for construction using concrete, masonry and steel
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of presentation of structural design and detailing in construction documents
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of structural design codes and standards
  • Skilled in organizing and coordinating work with both peers and subordinates, and in planning, monitoring, and completing projects within that plan
  • Production and project management skills and experience
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Proficient in public speaking roles
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel

  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering
  • Experience with Microstation or AutoCAD
  • Registration as a Structural Engineer
